Red White and Blue Cupcakes

I decided to try something new for Memorial Day. I made layered Red White and Blue Cupcakes for the first time. They were a lot of fun and looked great once they were done.
I separated my cake batter into 3 bowls. I used food coloring to die the batter the colors I wanted. I spooned the layers into the muffin pan one on top of the other. I ended up putting a bit too much batter in the pan and the cupcakes were really top heavy.
The next time I make these I will focus on making the layers a little more even so hopefully there is not the huge dip in color in the middle. These went over really well and were a fun surprise when everyone bit into the cupcake.
