I am so excited to share with everyone a trick I just learned from my really good friend Christa. She came over to cook dinner and commented on my cast iron pan. She said that she could help me clean it and look a lot better than it did. I have been wanting to find a way to clean the cast iron but always worry I am going to do something wrong and ruin it somehow. After we cooked dinner Christa showed me her simple easy way to clean the cast iron pans. Oh my goodness my pans are cleaner than they have been in a really long time.
This is how the cast iron pan looked after we cooked steak fajitas in it. It was not very pretty and needed some serious cleaning.
Christa had me pour baking soda into the pan and cover all of the contents.
We use a metal dough scraper and moved the baking soda around the pan. I was amazed at how quickly it picked up all of the grease and food bits in the pan. I kept moving the baking soda around and scraping it until it looked like the bottom was clean. I then scraped the baking soda out of the pan and wiped it down with a paper towel.
I can honestly say my cast iron pans have not been this clean in a really long time. I am so excited that Christa taught me this trick.
Do you have any great kitchen cleaning tricks? I would love to hear about them. I am always looking for ways to keep our kitchen clean and keep our pots and pans looking their best.
