 Dinner parties are a wonderful time to get good friends together and catch up. You can enjoy the company of friends while sipping a cocktail, nibbling on appetizers and then enjoying a delicious meal. However, if you’re not prepared, hosting a dinner party can quickly turn into a stressful experience instead of one that you should be able to enjoy.

Luckily, we’re here to help. We’ve created a list of our favorite appetizer recipes that are so easy to make that they’ll take the effort right out of hosting. Instead of slaving over a hot stove while your friends are mingling, you’ll be right in there mingling with them. Here are five options that are sure to impress even the most discerning guest:

Sun-Dried Tomato & Garlic Dip
This creamy dip can be prepared in just 10 minutes – less time than it takes you to buy the ingredients. For an easy appetizer that will quickly become your go-to, try this wonderful creation.

1 pkg. (8 oz.) cream cheese
½ cup salad dressing (not mayonnaise)
½ cup oil-packed sun-dried tomatoes, drained, chopped
2 Tbsp. fresh chives, finely chopped
1 clove garlic, minced
1 tsp. freshly ground black pepper

Mix ingredients until well blended.

Serve with crackers, pita bread or fresh vegetables.

Recipe doubles easily.

Refrigerate any leftovers.


Baked Crab Rangoon

You don’t have to go to a Chinese restaurant to get your hands on delicious Crab Rangoon. In just 40 minutes, you can create rich, crispy Crab Rangoon that everyone is sure to love.

1 can (6 oz.) white crabmeat, drained, flaked
4 oz. (1/2 of 8-oz. pkg.) neufchatel cheese, softened
2 green onions, thinly sliced
¼ cup light mayonnaise
12 won ton wrappers

Preheat oven to 350°F.

Mix first 4 ingredients.

Place 1 won ton wrapper in each of 12 muffin cups sprayed with cooking spray, extending edges of wrappers over sides of cups. Fill with crab mixture.

Bake 18 to 20 min. or until edges of cups are golden brown and filling is heated through.

Refrigerate any leftovers.

Cobb Salad Dip

A creative spin on everyone’s favorite salad, this dip combines brings out the best parts of Cobb Salad and puts them in dip form for everyone to enjoy. Pair it with crackers or warm pitas for quite the treat.

1 pkg. (8 oz.) cream cheese, softened
¼ cup blue cheese dressing
1 cup finely chopped iceberg lettuce
½ cup chopped turkey breast deli meat
2 hard-boiled eggs, finely chopped
2 small plum tomatoes, finely chopped
1 avocado, pitted and diced
¼ cup crumbled blue cheese
4 slices bacon, crisply cooked and crumbled

Mix cream cheese and dressing until well blended; spread onto serving plate or bottom of pie plate. Refrigerate 1 hour.

Top with layers of all remaining ingredients.

Serve with crackers or warm pita bread.

The Perfect Cheese Ball

Creating a cheese ball has never been easier! This recipe combines cheese, pecans, and maple syrup for a delicious addition to a plate of crackers.

1 pkg. (8 oz.) cream cheese
2 cups shredded cheddar cheese
½ cup dried cranberries
2 Tbsp. port wine
½ cup chopped pecans
¼ cup maple-flavored pancake syrup

Mix cream cheese, cheddar cheese, cranberries and wine until well blended; cover. Refrigerate 1 hour.

Shape into ball or other desired shape; coat with pecans. Place on serving plate.

Drizzle with syrup just before serving with assorted crackers, bread and fresh vegetables.

Refrigerate any leftovers.


Bacon Appetizer Crescents

This tasty favorite combines flaky crescent rolls with a savory filling for an appetizer that will be off the plate before you can greet your guests!

16 servings

1 pkg. (8 oz.) cream cheese, softened
8 slices bacon, cooked, crumbled
1/3 cup grated parmesan cheese
¼ cup finely chopped onions
2 Tbsp. chopped fresh parsley
1 Tbsp. milk
2 cans (8 oz.) refrigerated crescent dinner rolls


Preheat oven to 375°F.


Mix all ingredients except crescent dough.

Separate each can of dough into 8 triangles; cut each triangle lengthwise in half. Spread each dough triangle with 1 generous tsp. cream cheese mixture; roll up, starting at short side of triangle. Place, point-sides down, on baking sheet.

Bake 12 to 15 min. or until golden brown. Serve warm.

Refrigerate any leftovers.
