Freeze Bananas

Do you ever look up and realize that you have a bowl of bananas that are brown and spotty? This seems to happen to me fairly frequently. Instead of throwing them away freeze them for another day. I freeze bananas in 1 cup servings so I have them ready for banana bread.

I dump them all in my Kitchenaid mixer and mash them up to a liquid form. Once they are mushed up I put them in freezer bags in 1 cup servings. I put in a heaping cup since a portion of the banana will stick to the bag when they are frozen.

Once I have all of the bags ready and dated I move the smaller bags into a larger bag to make it easier to store them in the freezer.

I love how nicely the bananas stack in the freezer. I tend to make a ton of banana bread in the fall and winter. I love being able to grab the plastic bags and having the bananas pre-measured out for the recipe.

Looking for recipes to use your bananas in? Why not try out Banana Bread or Baked Banana Blueberry Oatmeal.

  1. I sure do!!! You know frugal minds think a like. I love making banana muffins. It saves me a few dollars during the fall and winter months. I just started freezing the fruit and yogurt for my smoothies in small bags.

For how long can u keep them in the freezer?

    • I tend to keep them in the freezer for 5-6 months without a problem. I stock up on them in the summer and then use them during the fall and winter when I don’t want to drive in the snow.
