Last night I went to my first but not last Lilac City Roller Derby Bout/Match. I am honestly not sure what they are called but it was so much fun. John and I had been planning on attending the match for the past few weeks. Last week I saw Inland Imaging post that they had a giveaway for 4 free tickets. I entered on a whim figuring why not see if I could win tickets and save a few dollars. Well I got an email the next day that I had won!! Inland Imaging was a sponsor of last nights match. Inland Imaging has a fantastic program called Every Woman Can. You can learn more about this program on the Every Woman Can Website.
I have to say I was not really sure what to expect from a Roller Derby event. I had images of bad ass woman with tights, tutus, crazy outfits and more. Well I was right! The woman of the Lilac City Roller Girls are truly bad ass! WOW I was so impressed with their skating skills, pushing, shoving and all out determination. I am not sure I could skate 10 feet in a forward motion let alone around a ring with other woman trying to push and shove me off the playing field. I am so glad we bought the program when we first arrived. The program was filled with great information including how the event is played. I was not sure if there was a ball
involved or a person who won the points.
Thank goodness for great friends who love going to fun events! My great friends Rhonda and Christa joined me last night. John was stuck at home since he hurt his back and could only hear about it via text message. It was a great girls night out. All of us were in awe of the woman skating.
The Roller City Derby Girls each have their own derby names. They are unique, totally individual and well pretty darn amazing. Here are a few of my favorite Lilac City Roller Girls Names

The next Lilac City Roller Girls Event is on October 6th at the Spokane Country Fair Grounds. I am not sure what time the event is yet. I can’t wait to take John and watch these ladies skate again. I am so glad I had a chance to check another item off of my Spokane/E. WA bucket list! This event was so much fun and made for a great evening out with the girls.
If you are interested in trying your hand at Roller Derby there is a “Fresh Meat” practice on September 15th at 9am, Pattison’s North Skate Rink. So glad you enjoyed the bout! I work for Inland Imaging and skate for Lilac City Roller Girls. We love to support Every Woman Can!! Hope you can come to our next event “BLOCKTOBERFEST” at the Fairgrounds on October 6th. We are hosting a scrimmage for our Fresh Meat (new girls) that is free to the public at noon. The double header bout with our Pixies starts at 5:30 to be followed by LCRG taking on the Snake Pit Derby Dames of Coeur d’Alene. Doors open at 5pm.
We really enjoyed the event. I am excited to bring my husband to the bout on the 5th.
