Rice Krispie Treat Hearts

Rice Krispie treats are my go to easy recipe when I want to throw a quick treat together that everyone loves. I have not met many people that will turn down a Rice Krispie Treat. I also love that I normally have everything I need for these treats in the pantry and do not have to go out and buy anything. For Valentine’s Day I decided to make Rice Krispie Treat Hearts. These are super easy and turned out great.

To make the treats red I added red food coloring to the butter and marshmallow mix. I found that these turn a better shade of red when you add the red coloring to the butter as it is melting. When I added it after the marshmallows were in the pan I did not get a bright red.

I used the Wilton From The Heart Nesting Cookie Cutter Set to cut the heart shapes. I let the rice krispies cool down prior to cutting them with the cookie cutters.
