Getting started with coupons Week 1 – Building your coupon stockpile!
The most important thing to getting started with coupons is well having coupons. This week we are going to focus on building up your coupon stockpile!
Sources for Coupons
Sunday Newspaper
If your local area has multiple newspaper I would pick up one of each and find out which ones carry the best coupons. Once you decide which newspapers you like I would set up a weekly subscription. Many newspapers offer a discount if you order multiple newspapers each week. The Spokesman Review has a deal when you get 3 of more papers delivered on Sundays.
Printable Coupons
Printable Coupons are a fantastic source for coupons! You get to choose which coupons you print and how many of them you print. I highly suggest starting with printing coupons for products you use on a regular basis or would like to try.
Here are the sites we use to print coupons each week
Coupons.com
Coupon Network
Red Plum
Smart Source
Most of these sites allow you to print two of each coupon from your computer. Coupons update on a daily and sometimes hourly basis. I suggest checking back frequently to see if there are new coupons you can use. Coupons also reset during the month so you may be able to print more than two of the same coupon during the month.
Friends and family
Friends and family members are a great way to build up your coupons. Ask your friends and family if they are going to be using their coupons. You can set up a coupon clipping day and friends and family can swap coupons and help each other save.
All You magazine is sold at Walmart or you can order a monthly subscription. I highly suggest signing up for a monthly subscription. I currently get 4 of these magazines delivered each month. They are filled with high value coupons that you do not see in any other sources. The magazine also has fantastic budget friendly recipes.
Magazines
If you have a monthly magazine subscription keep an eye out for coupons. Many magazines including Good Housekeeping, Better Homes and Garden, Sunset and more have magazines in them monthly.
Keep all of your coupons in one place. This week is all about getting coupons so you have them available. Next week we are going to talk about organizational methods.
Let us know what questions you have about getting started with coupons! We are here to help and look forward to hearing from you!

What is the best way to sort and organize your coupons? Do put certain groups like pasta dishes, soups, dairy prod., paper product. etc together then by brand or abc order and then expiration dates? I get confused with so many ways to organize and then be able to find them when you need them.
I do alot of shopping at aldis to save money. But my daughter and i drink organic milk. I have never seen organic milk coupons for stonfield organic milk.
Leah, Stonyfield is great about sending out coupons. I would send them an email and ask if they have coupons or a mailing list you can be added to. I received coupons from them in the mail at our old address frequently. Also make sure and check their Facebook page for coupons.
Thank you– I do newspaper inserts, and magazines, our store won’t take internet prints
