I have always wanted to try and make a zebra print cake. I have never tried it before because I thought it was some crazy baking technique that was outside of my skill set. Boy was I wrong. This may be one of the easiest cake designs to make. What I love about this design is you do not have to be perfect! I think the design looks  better when you are not perfect and it is a bit random.

I figure Valentine’s Day is the perfect time to make a pink and white zebra print cake. I can’t wait to try and make a red, white and blue cake for 4th of July. I have so many ideas for this cake now that I have made one.

Here are the steps I took to make this fun cake!

Prepare your favorite white cake batter. Divide batter into 2 bowls evenly. Mix red food coloring with one set of batter until you get the color you are looking for.
Spray 9 Inch Round Cake Pan with non stick spray

IMG_6223 Add your first color to the pan. I poured 1/2 cup of batter at a time

IMG_6224 Add your second color directly in the middle of your first color

IMG_6225 Continue adding your batter until the pan is filled. The batter will move towards the edge of the pan on its own as you add each section.

Bake your cakes according to the box directions.

Ice your cake and add your decorations. I used a Heart Cookie Cutter  to add the pink sprinkles to the top. I placed the cookie cutter on the cake and filled it in with pink sprinkles.

Your friends and family will be so surprised when you cut into the cake and show off the pink and white zebra print

  5. Is this just one layer? The picture looks like 2 layers. I wasn’t sure if the cake mix fits in just one 9″ pan or did you use 2?
