When John and I got married I have to honestly say that we did not talk a lot about our post-marriage financial decisions or what our future finances looked like. We knew how much each of us made and for the most part how much we owed. We were both on each others check books and thought we had talked about what we needed to financially. After being married for 4 years I can honestly say that we did not have the conversations we needed to have when we first got married.
I really wish we would have sat down and made a financial map of what we earned and what we owed. We should have made a game plan for paying off debt and how to best maximize our income. John and I are now focused on saving for retirement and making sure we are maximizing our income.

We love Genworth Insurance They have some great options!
I really need to sit down with my husband and look at the big picture. We’ve done it in a few other areas but not this one.

We sit down twice a month and have financial meetings. We started doing it a few months ago and it has been so helpful. I feel like we are both on the same page and know exactly where our money is going. There is no question now about what our goals are and what we are doing to achieve them.
Thanks for the info! I have a retirement fund but I’ve been researching a little more lately to make sure I”m taking advantage of all my options. It’s a lot of info to take in.. but worth it in the end.

It is so much to take in. I have been slowly but surely learning more and more about what to do with my retirement account. I have this fear that I will look up at 55 and wish that I had done more in my 30′s to work on it.
