We have a hard time passing a brewery in our travels and have an extensive growler collection to prove it. We have visited breweries from Glacier brewery in Alaska to Banks Brewery in Barbados! We love them for their atmosphere, good food and great beer.
Our top 10 list was hard to decide upon but definitely enjoyed each and every one. There are some really good breweries out there but these are our favorites. 1) Kona Brewing Co., Big Island Hawaii This is the holy grail of breweries! Great beer, incredible food and hands down the best atmosphere you could ask for. This is one of my favorite tours also. By the end of this tour you will have had several samples of beer and meet people with whom you will odds on have several beers with while watching the mongoose and geckos running around. 2) Redhook Brewing, Redmond Washington Redhook had the best brewery tour I have participated in, yes participated in. This is the one tour that rewards correct answers with more beer! By the end of the tour we had to eat at the restaurant to sober up before leaving. Did I mention they produce really good food & beer. They also have movie nights to some of your favorite beer drinking movies so come prepared. 3) Red Frog Brew Pub, Carnival Cruise Line ships That’s right you can enjoy a great beer while on a cruise vacation! They also have bar food and entertainment or can simply sit out on deck and enjoy the breeze while enjoying a good beer. Let’s give a great big hip hip hooray to the folks at Carnival and remember to live thirsty. 4) Laughing Dog Brewing Co, Sandpoint, Idaho No food or special tours here. You get great beer including a darn good Huckleberry Crème Ale, tasty snacks served in dog dishes and everyone is just plain friendly. This includes the dogs that are welcome. I leave this place happy every time. 5) Tamarack Brewing Company, Kalispell Montana This is a must for all those going to Glacier National Park. They have some of the best brewery food ever. The greek goddess dip knocked my socks off as it was so good. The beer was pretty tasty also. Sit outside if you get the chance and enjoy. 6) No-Li Brewing Co. Spokane,Washington I love this place! It could be that I am from Spokane and have easy access but it is also for the great food and love their beers. The best part is you can enjoy this sitting in an Adirondack chair overlooking the Spokane River. Every town in America deserves a place like this. 7) Moab Brewing Co. Moab,Utah There is no better way to spend an afternoon after hiking all day than spending the evening in Moab walking the town and having dinner at the brewery and ice cold beers. I felt the sting of the Scorpion Pale Ale. 8) Big Sky Brewing Co. Missoula Montana No food here and looks like you are walking into a warehouse. You begin to wonder what you are getting into as you pull up. You open the car door and instantly hit with the aroma of hops coming out of the building. Your nose leads you into a building with lots of merchandise and given samples of some really good beers. How can you go wrong with a beer named Moose Drool? I am not a dark beer fan and can down some of this stuff! They also have Nalgene growlers as people can’t take glass on the river & float. It is the best purchase I have ever made as I can throw it in the back of the Jeep and can bounce around until the day I want a growler fill.
9) Kokanee Brewing Co. Creston,BC No food, typical brewery tour and got to sample a beer and that’s it. So why did it make the list? Simple, if you find yourself there near Creston BC you need to stop and have your picture taken with Sasquatch out front holding a case of kokanee. Step inside the store and you will quickly realize how lucky we are in America as beer is stupid expensive in Canada.
10) Yukon Brewing Co. Whitehorse Yukon Their slogan is beer worth freezing for. I agree it was pretty delicious and even took a Thirst Aid Kit back with me which is their definition of a variety 12 pack. The staff was incredibly nice and had a great selection of beer and merchandise. Me and my Thirst Aid Kit were instant hits upon arrival back to our cruise ship in Skagway Alaska.
