During our trip to Kona we had the opportunity to enjoy an evening on Blue Sea Cruises. Our evening cruise included amazing food, great hula dancing and best of all Manta Rays.
We boarded the Spirit of Kona right on Alii drive in Kona. Parking was super easy to find and we enjoyed watching the snorkelers and outrigger canoes in the bay as we waited to board.
Boarding the boat was a breeze and soon we were pulling out to sea with the sunset in the background.
You can’t get a much better view of the sunset as you pull out of Kona. The sunsets on the Big Island are one of our favorite parts of any trip to Hawaii. There is just something amazing about watching the palm trees sway as the sun sets.
As we headed out for our cruise we had the opportunity to enjoy beautiful island music from 2 musicians. They played the island favorites that we all love with great voices. You could tell that they love what they do and love living on the islands.
Dinner included a great buffet of options. As a vegetarian I was able to find a great salad, rice and rolls along with grilled veggies for dinner. There was also a few variety’s of meat to chose from including gorgeous kabobs.
Eek! Manta Rays!!!!!!
We knew the Spirit of Kona was a glass bottom boat but we had no idea we were going to have the chance to see Manta Rays swimming by. We thought you had to go on a dive or snorkal expedition to see the Mantas. We were so excited when they started swimming under the boat.
The entire boat clapped and squealed when the first Manta Ray swam by. I definitely suggest getting a seat by the viewing windows so you have a great view of the Mantas. We spent quite a bit of time just watching them glide by under the boat.
As we were headed back towards Kona we were entertained with a lovely hula show. The dancer showed both traditional and modern versions of the hula to fantastic live music.
We had so much fun on our Blue Sea Cruise. We took John’s Mom as a surprise and she was just speechless over getting to see the Mantas and a live hula show. It was definitely one of the highlights of the trip.
