We have been in the market for a new phone plan for my Dad. He gets a bit grumpy each month when the cell phone bill comes in, and he has to pay for his monthly service. He is not a big cell phone person and rarely uses his phone. He gets upset that he has to pay for a service he isn’t using all the time. I decided to test out Ting Mobile to see if it would be a great option for my Dad.
I wanted to make sure that I tested it first before I signed my 70+-year-old Dad up for it and heard about how he couldn’t figure it out. I love my parents, but they are not as tech savvy as they think they are.
One of the things I really liked right off the bat is Ting Mobile has service in Sprint and T-Mobiles service area. This lets me know that there wouldn’t be a problem with my Dad having service in his area.
The other great thing is with Ting Mobile you only pay for the services that you use. Ting has no contracts, so you don’t have to worry about being locked into something for a long time. They also have amazing customer service with a real person answering the phone when you call. How revolutionary is that…talking to a real person to get help!
I love this video from Ting!
This is a big thing for me! I want to make sure that my parents and also me are not spending hours in a phone loop trying to convince a robotic system to let me talk to a real person. I just need to get a question answered not press the number 5 so many times that I wear out my phone trying to get to a person. LOL!
The average monthly bill is only $23 per device with Ting! They offer rates not plans, so you decide what services you are going to use. $6 for your phone + minutes, messages, megabytes + required taxes = your monthly Ting Mobile bill.
Your monthly Ting bill can be different from month to month as your usage changes. Minutes, messages and data are independent of each other. Ting’s rates adjust based on what you use, and you only pay for the levels you reach.

The other great thing is 80% of devices are eligible to use Ting, and you can use your same phone number. I cringe thinking about having to change my phone number or my parent’s number all over the place. They have had the same number for at least 15 years, and I can’t imagine the process of changing it. One account can have multiple phones. All phones draw from the same amount of minutes, messages, and megabytes. The more phones you have on your account, the less you pay per phone on average.
If you are stuck in a cell phone contract Ting offers 25% credit of ETF (Early Termination Fees), up to $75 per device, for coming to Ting. If you are wondering if your phone will work with Ting. Check out this video to see the options for phones:
