Stockpile Organization 101 – Expiration Dates

Stockpile Organization – Expiration Dates

When I first started building our stockpile I did not have a way to organize our purchases and know when items expired. I would go through the stockpile and find items that were expired and no longer good and have to throw them out. I started using a permanent marker and marking in big numbers the expiration date of the product on the package. I spent a couple of days in the beginning going through everything that was in our stockpile labeling it and reorganizing it. Now everything has the expiration date written on it and is organized by date. When we go to get a box of cereal you can easily see which box expires the quickest. We try and always make sure and grab the item with the quickest expiration date.

Stockpile Organization 101 – What to do with all of the trial size and samples products

What to do with all of the trial size and sample products

When we moved a couple of months ago I quickly realized how many trial size and sample sized products we had in the house. I wanted to find a way to organize them without having them take up a ton of space on a shelf. I found a over the door shoe organizer that I was not going to be using and decided to try it out. I have to say I absolutely love it. I have the pouches divided into specific items and it works great. It is hidden behind the door in the pantry were most people do not see it. I am able to put in the razors, shampoos, soaps and other items that do not fit well on a shelf. I was also really surprised at how many of these items I had once I organized them in one space. I am pretty sure I could go for a few weeks just using trial size and sample products.

I have also heard of people using extra photo boxes or plastic bins under the sink to store their trial size and sample products.
