81 Frugal Date Ideas!

Cute photo John and me

This Sunday John and I are celebrating our 7th anniversary since our first date! I can not believe it has already been seven years. The past seven years have literally flown by in a blink of an eye. I was thinking back on what it was like when we first started dating compared to being married.

When we were dating we……

-Held hands walking through Target

-Sat next to each other at dinner instead of across the table

-I got butterflies in my stomach when I saw John’s name on my phone

Now that we are married…..

- We power through Target and divide and conguer our list

-We sit across from each other at dinner and normally have a to do list we are working on

- I now smile each time I see John’s name on the phone and feel a sense of contentment and love

I’m Gonna Pop A Corny Question ~ Valentine’s Day Treat

I’m Gonna Pop A Corny Question ~ Valentine’s Day Treat

One of our favorite treats is popcorn. I was so excited to find a way to include popcorn in my Valentine’s Day notes for John. We enjoy a bowl of popcorn while we watch tv or movies almost every night. I though this Valentine was the perfect treat for movie night to surprise John. It is quite “corny” but so much fun.

How to save on date night to the Movies!

My friends over at Live2Save2Live sent over this great post on how they saved for date night at the movies! I love that she was able to save money and have a fantastic date night!

I don’t consider myself a movie buff, but I LOVE going to the movie theater. There is just something about seeing a movie in the dark on a huge screen and feeling immersed in it. But it can get expensive! This is the breakdown for a date night for 2 to the movies:

Adult Tickets: $10.50/each

Small Popcorn: $6/each

Small Soda: $4/each

Total: $41 for a date night at the movies (I don’t like to share my food! haha)

It may be even more expensive where you live. That is unacceptable! Well this may get a little complicated, but I’m going to show you how I got the whole package for just $28.50! Now to start, you will need at least 2 things to get this deal: a MyPoints account and an Entertainment Book. It will help if you have a Regal Cinemas Crown Club Card. Note that this deal is for Regal Cinemas only. You may be able to get it at other theaters and I will explain that below.

First, sign up for MyPoints or log in. Search for “Regal.” There is a deal for a Movie Pack of 2 Premiere Tickets and a $10 Gift Card for $28.50. When you purchase this deal on MyPoints, you receive 200 points. Not only do you get awesome coupons and offers with MyPoints, but you can redeem your points for gift cards like Amazon, iTunes, Applebee’s, and SO much more! If you don’t have Regal Cinemas, search for the movie theater in your area. MyPoints just may have a deal similar to this one. I also saw Cinemark on MyPoints.

Second, you will need an Entertainment Book. If you don’t have one, there is still time to buy one for 2012. Entertainment Books have thousands of dollars in savings for everything from restaurants to theaters to retail. Since it is already May, they are on sale for $12 (Reg. $35) + FREE Shipping! Hurry, this is a 12-hour sale! In my Entertainment Book, there was a coupon for a Free Small Drink with purchase of any size popcorn. You will need this coupon.

The last piece to this deal is having a Regal Cinemas Crown Club Card. When you go to the movies and purchase tickets or concessions, you acquire points. After you acquire a certain amount of points, you get nice little surprises like coupons for a free movie ticket or free popcorn!

Here is the whole scenario:

Buy 2 Adult Tickets (normally $21)

Use Premier Movie Passes from MyPoints

Use Regal Crown Club Card to acquire points (*Note: After my card was swiped, it spit out a coupon for free popcorn! I used this next.)

Buy 2 Small Popcorns & 2 Small Sodas (normally $20)

Use Free Drink coupon from Entertainment Book (-$4)

Use Free Popcorn coupon (if you have one) (-$6)

Use $10 Gift Card from MyPoints

Use Regal Crown Club Card to acquire points

TADA! You actually pay nothing at the movie theater. All you paid for was the Movie Pack in advance. And that is how I spent $28.50 for 2 Adult Movie Tickets, 2 Small Popcorns, and 2 Small Sodas. If you don’t have a coupon for a Free Small Popcorn from the Regal Crown Club, then just share one. :)
