Tips and Tricks for Bedroom Deep Clean

I can’t get the quote “Does your house rise up to great you” out of my head lately. As I have been looking around our house I realized that it really did not look the way I wanted it to. We moved in a little over a year and a half ago and it does not look like I want it to. This year I am focusing on making our house a place I want to relax in and enjoy. The first room I decided to attack/clean was our master bedroom. I want this room to be a relaxing sanctuary that is not cluttered or filled with random stuff.

Here are a few of the tips and tricks I use for deep cleaning our bedroom.

How to clean your Dishwasher

I was recently reading an article that said that dishwashers can harbor fungi and black yeast. I am honestly not sure what these do but they sound disgusting and I wanted to make sure that my dishwasher was as clean as humanly possible! Yuck! Just the thought of fungi makes my stomach a little queasy.

I decided to scrub my dishwasher inside and out and make sure it was sparkly clean and fungi free.

We saved $4352.40 giving up soda over the past 3 years!

Tammilee Tips buttonToday is the 3 year anniversary of me giving up soda. John was able to give it up a week or so before me. I had to slowly work my way off of drinking it. Last night we sat down and figured out how much money we saved over the past 2 year by giving up soda. These numbers are rough estimates. It was probably a lot more money than what we figured out last night. We went with an average price and average soda drinking over the year. There were times that we drank a lot more than the average. Did I mention that we drank a lot of soda! I always had a soda in my hand or near me at my desk.
I am amazed that it has already been 3 years since we gave it up. I can’t think of the last time a soda sounded good. I am now trying to give up Crystal Light and Snapple Iced Teas. I find myself picking them up when I am out and about and they are an expense I would like to get rid of.

Funfetti Cake Batter Bars Recipe

One of my good friends is a Funfetti Cake freak! She would gladly enjoy Funfetti Cake every day if she could get away with it. I thought it would be fun to make an adaptation of Funfetti Cake that was easier to eat. I searched through Pinterest and the Web and found a recipe for Funfetti Cake Batter Bars. These were a lot of fun to make and turned out great. I think next time I will add in extra funfetti sprinkles to make them even brighter and colorful.

1 1/2 cup sugar
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
2 eggs
2 1/3 cup unbleached all purpose flour

1 pound sweetened shredded coconut

Line 2 cookie sheets with parchment paper

 2. In a mixing bowl, cream the butter, sugar, and vanilla with an electric mixer on med. speed. This should be light and fluffy.
Beat in the eggs, one at a time, scraping the bowl as you add the eggs. Add the flour and baking soda until fully combined

3. Fold in the coconut by hand. Drop the dough by the spoonful about 2 inches apart on the cookie sheets

4. Bake for 15 minutes, rotating pans halfway through baking.
The cookies are done when the edges are golden brown.
