I can’t get the quote “Does your house rise up to great you” out of my head lately. As I have been looking around our house I realized that it really did not look the way I wanted it to. We moved in a little over a year and a half ago and it does not look like I want it to. This year I am focusing on making our house a place I want to relax in and enjoy. The first room I decided to attack/clean was our master bedroom. I want this room to be a relaxing sanctuary that is not cluttered or filled with random stuff.

Here are a few of the tips and tricks I use for deep cleaning our bedroom.

Tips for a day in Cabo San Lucas

Tips for Cabo San Lucas

We really enjoyed our visit to Cabo San Lucas. I really wish we would have been in port more than 5 hours. We could have filled an entire day with all of the fun spots in town. Here are some of our best tips for Cabo San Lucas.

-The stores and restaurants were not opened before 9-10am. We did find a Starbucks close by that had free wi-fi. If you want to use the wi-fi the information was located on the bottom of our receipt. You had to have a password and sign in to access the wi-fi.

-The town is very easy to walk around in. There was ample maps and signs pointing to the major attractions in town. There is a nice tourist information center located right near the Hard Rock Café. They were happy to give us a map and point out some of the great places to stop and visit.

-The grocery store near the Hard Rock Café has a large selection of tequila and other alcohol. If you are looking for Cabo Wabo Tequila it was significantly cheaper on site at the Cabo Wabo compared to the grocery store.

-There is a really nice large souvenir store near the tender area. The store was well lit and filled with a ton of souvenirs. Everything from tequila, t-shirts, sombreros, and everything else you can imagine.

-If you head into town before sunrise make sure to turn around and look out the back of the tender. We watched an amazing sunrise over the water as we headed into town.

-On the way back to the boat keep an eye out for sea lions in the bay. We saw a fishing boat with two sea lions riding on the back begging for fish.

-The marina area was really easy to walk through. There were quite a few security guards along the way. We were offered fishing trips, glass bottom boat rides, and beach excursions for a really low price while walking in the marina. There were a few peddlers but they were mostly in one specific area.

-Senor Frogs is a great place to stop for a tropical drink and fun.

Cabo San Lucas was one of our favorite ports during our Panama Canal Cruise. We are already thinking about going back for a long weekend or even a week. There is so much to do in town and we had a fantastic time there.

Tips to Improve Your Financial Health

Tips to Improve Your Financial Health

If you’re determined to improve your financial health, you need to see your current situation in a new light. For improvement to be truly desirable, it’s vital to view your existing money habits as undesirable. As with any over-consumption – be it drugs, alcohol or money – the first step to recovery is accepting you have a problem.

It’s the first step in a chain of new attitudes that you must adopt if you want to have a healthier bank balance. Once you’re accepted you have a bad attitude towards money, you have to recognize when it’s taking effect and learn how to put the brakes on. Besides the most obvious indicator of you financial health – your bank balance – a free credit check is often a great way to get some extra insight into your situation and can be quickly. You can easily obtain a free credit check online from companies like CreditExpert.

The best way to embark on your journey to financial liberation is by starting a monthly budget. Track your income and outgoings as closely as possible. Separate your needs from your wants. You won’t have to do away with all your wants – just set aside a percentage of your income each month, add it to your budget, and don’t go over it.

A budget allows you to figure all of this out. Start with the most important expense for you and your family, and make a list of all your needs. Track your money very carefully. This way you’ll never have any unexpected expenses. Use your check book to document all deposits and withdrawals into your account, or just look at your online statement for the previous month. It can be quite startling to tot up your expenses over such a long period of time, but it’s a necessary discomfort if you’re going to change your ways.

Separating your wants and needs will have lasting benefits on your life. Needs are the absolute necessities of life: rent/mortgage, utility bills, transport to work, food etc. They may be different for different people, but they can’t be done away with. Wants are all the other things in life that you desire, but don’t really need. These can include holidays, television, computers, luxury food and alcoholic drinks.

To recap, the three most important steps towards improving your finances are:

1) Accept you must change and start a monthly budget

2) Track your incomings and outgoings carefully

3) Separate your wants and needs

Making these small changes to your life can improve your finances more than you might think. Have a look at these free online finance classes to get some more help with living a smarter lifestyle.

5 Tips for using Daily Deal Purchases

5 Tips for using Daily Deal Purchases

1. Mark the expiration date for daily deals and coupons in your calendar so you use them before they expire

2. Look at the restrictions and know when they have to be used. Many daily deals have specific restrictions on what days they can be used and where they can be used. Make sure you know the restrictions prior to buying the daily deal.

3. Keep all of your daily deals in one place. Find a place to store all of your vouchers so they are easy to find and you can easily get to them. I try and sort mine by expiration date so I use the oldest ones first.

4. Share/gift them if you can not use them in time. You already invested in the voucher if for some reason you are unable to use it see if you can gift it to a friend/family member to use.

5. Enjoy them! Daily deals are a great way to try new restaurants, experience fun adventures and try new things. I love buying them for date nights, evenings with friends and new challenges.
