A day in Skagway on our Alaska Cruise. This was a really nice long day in port. We arrived pretty early in the morning and did not have to be back onto the ship until almost dinnertime.
Skagway on an Alaska Cruise
The Golden Princess docks right in Skagway. You are able to walk into town from the boat. It is not as close as Ketchikan but still an easy walk. It is flat the entire way and maybe took 10-15 minutes to get to the heart of town.
As you walk into Skagway check out the rocks along the dock. Each time a new ship comes into Skagway they paint a sign or symbol onto the rocks. It is pretty cool to see all of the ships that have made it into port over the years.
If you decide to take the train excursion from the cruise ship it leaves right from the dock area. You literally walk off the boat and onto the train.
Skagway is a very easy city to walk around. There are tons of cute little shops and restaurants in Skagway. Everything is pretty flat and you really can not miss which way to walk to the ship since you can see it from all sides of town.
We decided to rent a car and head to the Yukon territory since we had never been there before.
