During my trip to Los Angeles for the Ralph Breaks the Internet event we had the amazing opportunity of going behind the scenes and visiting the ABC TV The Rookie Set!!! I am so excited to share with you my photos from exploring the set.
Mercedes Mason, who plays “Zoe Andersen,” taking us on a tour of the set of “The Rookie” and was honestly amazing! I am pretty sure we could be BFF’s and dish it back and forth all day long. Mercedes tried to go into tough cop mode with me but I just giggled. After being married to a Law Enforcement Ranger for over 10 years it takes a bit to get me quaking in my shoes. LOL!
I love any chance I have to see the behind the scenes working set of our favorite movies and TV shows. Being able to see how many people it takes to put the entire production together is amazing. The time and effort to produce 10 seconds of TV always amazes me. Every scene is crafted with so much care and focus so that what we see is the best possible experience as a viewer.
As you can see we all handled being on the line up a bit differently.
Mercedes Mason, who plays Captain Zoe Andersen, showed me a few secrets in her office! She likes to leave random notes for her co-workers to get them to laugh during a scene. You never know what you will find inside her desk.
What do you think? Do I look like I could be the Captain of the precinct?
I was in the first group to get a tour and it was a whirlwind of fun. One thing to know is we are literally shooting pics as we walk and hope that we get the shots we want/need. The crew was quickly setting up for a scene so we were on the move the entire time. The stars were getting into uniform and having their audio/microphones geared up when we walked through.
This was really cool because we got to see so much of the behind the scenes but also a bit sad because all of the stars were busy when we walked through and we missed the opportunities for selfies and photos of them.

Starting over isn’t easy, especially for small-town guy John Nolan who, after a life-altering incident, is pursuing his dream of being a Los Angeles police officer. As the force’s oldest rookie, he’s met with skepticism from some higher-ups who see him as just a walking midlife crisis. If he can’t keep up with the young cops and the criminals, he’ll be risking lives including his own. But if he can use his life experience, determination and sense of humor to give him an edge, he may just become a success in this new chapter of his life.
