Starting on January 1st of this year John started the amazing #NPS365TammileeTips National Park Project on Instagram. He is sharing a new National Park photo every day in celebration of the 100 year anniversary of National Parks.

Being a park ranger has always been John’s dream job. Now that he is close to 20 years in with the parks, it continues to be his dream job. He gets to work every day in an amazing park and share his love of nature and parks with everyone. He decided to start this project so he could share his love of National Parks on a wider scale.

It has been so much fun seeing all of the photos he is sharing each day. Every photo was taken on one of our adventures through the National Parks. Here are some of n

Here are some of the amazing photos john has shared as part of this project. Check out John’s Instagram account to see all of them. I highly suggest following him so you can see each of the new pictures shared. I might be a bit biased but I think the pics are amazing 🙂

#1 of 365 This year I am celebrating our National Parks 100 Year Centennial by posting a new photo every day in 2016. All photos are taken by me and my lovely wife @tammileetips. I am starting off with a photo in America’s first National Park, Yellowstone. Nothing is more iconic than seeing bison in the river in such a beautiful place. I hope you follow me in my journey through America’s best idea in 2016! #nps365tammileetips

#2 of 365 Nothing can describe the feeling of the first moment you see Delicate Arch. You start off hiking up on red rock with no protection from the sun. I was not expecting a big arch as there was no arch in sight. You walk around the corner and your jaw almost drops to the ground! What a sight! Arches is one of my favorite places on earth! #3 of 365 Doing a family road trip is a great way to see our parks. We had the opportunity to travel from Indiana to Utah in an RV and stopped at several National Parks along the way including the Badlands. The photo is my father in law as we hiked around a viewpoint taking in the breathtaking views as sunset was quickly approaching. I have been known to drag friends and family all over our parks because the only thing better than experiencing our parks is sharing them with the people we love. #4 of 365 The Purple Gallinule is a beautiful bird seen in the Southern US like Everglades National Park This particular bird was on the Anhinga Trail and danced & played in the water as if it knew all the birders were going crazy as I heard camera shutters going wild! Being a bit of a bird nerd myself, it was one of the highlights of all my National Parks experiences. Follow my journey through the National Parks with a new photo every day at #nps365tammileetips

#5 of 365 Glacier National Park is a hikers dream! There are so many great hikes, beautiful lakes, waterfalls, and the Going to the Sun Road is worth the trip itself. I feel so fortunate to have this park only 5 hours away! Follow my journey through the National Parks with a new photo every day at #nps365tammileetips #glaciernps

#6 of 365 Bryce Canyon National Park is absolutely stunning! There are several parking areas along the rim of the canyon looking out into the hoodoos that makes this park so special. Each viewpoint seems prettier than the last. To see the real beauty of Bryce Canyon you need to hike down and see it looking up. I can vividly remember that moment just staring at all the intense colors! Follow my journey through the National Parks with a new photo every day at #nps365tammileetips #brycecanyonnps

#7 of 365 A trip to the Big Island of Hawaii is not complete without visiting the National Parks. Most visitors flock to Hawaii Volcanoes National Park or Pu’uhonua o Honaunau National Historic Park passing by Kaloko-Honokohau National Park. This is a real gem in the parks system! There is a visitor center, hiking trails, birding, incredible sunsets, turtles resting on the beach. Native Hawaiians fish using traditional practices. #8 of 365 Goodmorning from Death Valley National Park! Wildlife sightings is often one of the highlights of visiting National Parks. Coyotes are well adapted for the harsh desert environment and can often be seen roaming throughout the park. Our first trip to Death Valley we were greeted by a coyote at the pay station begging for food. He appeared well fed and had no fear of humans. This appeared to be the case again yesterday with this coyote. Please never feed wild animals. It is bad for them and they loose fear of humans creating dangerous encounters. On a funny note, we were walking to the pool last night at the Furnace Creek Inn when a coyote stepped up on the sidewalk 10 feet in front of us. @Tammileetips squealed and her fantastic park ranger husband (me) calmly talked to the coyote until he turned around and disappeared into the dark. Life is always exciting! Follow my journey through the National Parks with a new photo every day at #nps365tammileetips #deathvalleynps

#9 of 365 Death Valley is a great National Park to visit in the winter months. Yesterday we were about to walk inside the visitor center when I spotted a road runner! I just started laughing considering I just posted a coyote yesterday that was a 1/2 mile away! This is also a bird that has been on both mine and @tammileetips bird bucket list for years. Tammilee was chasing this bird around the parking lot when he ran up to me, stopped like 3 feet away and posed for me. #10 of 365 There is a magnificent night glow from the lava at the Thomas A Jagger Museum at Hawaii Volcanoes National Park! This has become a popular attraction for the park and parking can be difficult to find. Visitors stare out toward the Halema’uma’u Crater and enjoy the red glow from complete darkness. #11 of 365 Virgin Islands National Park is located on St. John in the US Virgin Islands. Majority of the island is the National Park and has stunning views of the ocean! The park also has an underwater interpretative trail that you follow while snorkeling! This park is easily accessible if you are on a cruise ship to St. Thomas as most cruise lines have excursions that take you there. #12 of 365 Utah is blessed with 5 National Parks. Capitol Reef is probably the least visited but not because of its incredible beauty but because it is the most remote of the 5 parks. People who make the trip is rewarded with one incredible view after another! Seen here is the water pocket fold, a place where the earth’s crust has buckled and pushed upward towards the sky! #14 of 365 Watching sunrise or sunset from the summit of Haleakala National Park is a sight to see! I have done it several times and each time it seems different and seems to bring renewal to my soul. Some people bring a picnic with them to enjoy after watching sunrise and explore the area. Just remember that it is cold on top so come prepared, the parking lot will fill up for sunrise so give yourself time to find your perfect spot for watching the sun rise over the clouds! One of my favorite moments during sunrise is being blessed to hear a native Hawaiian greet the sun with a blessing for the day. #15 of 365 Canyonlands National Park is a very large, remote and beautiful place. The park is broken into four sections due to its size and the rivers that cuts through it. The river is a fun way to see this park. This photo is from taking a boat ride out of Moab, Utah along the Colorado River. It is a great way to see Canyonlands NP. #17 of 365 Glacier Bay National Park is most frequently visited by cruise ship. Tourists each year take this iconic Alaska Cruise route to see glaciers, calving glaciers and wildlife including humpback whales. It takes the majority of the day to cruise through the park and usually includes staff from the park entering the boat giving interpretative talks and assisting with wildlife sightings. It has Green Sea Turtles, palm trees, beautiful beach, lots of birds and of course one of the best sunsets on the island! Wow those photos are really stunning! I personally am not very outdoorsy and I have never been to a national park. But wow these make me want to go!

Wow! Being a park ranger would be the best job ever! We love visiting national parks and have visited more out west than in our own backyard. There is something about the desert that draws us to it. Great post!
