Oh my goodness! Holy cow! Wow! I can’t believe that happened still!
I am still so in awe that I rode in a hot air balloon at the Reno Hot Air Balloon races. I am still trying to process the experience. It was unbelievable! So amazing and so much more than I can put into words.
Do you ever have those moments when you fight through your fear and push yourself to do something. Your stomach is in knots, you want to hide and take a deep breath and you feel a bit queasy that you are going to do it…..that is exactly how I felt going on my first hot air balloon ride.
I was so NERVOUS!!!! I barely slept a wink the night before. I kept looking at the clock worried I would oversleep and miss the opportunity. I was so worried that I would freak out and not do it. I was also worried that I would have to go to the bathroom when I was up in the balloon so I stopped eating or drink the night before. There was no way I was getting caught at 6500 feet having to pee and no easy way to make that happen. That might be a bit of TMI but its true 🙂
Thankfully I only had one moment in the balloon that I was nervous. About 10 seconds after we started going up I had a moment of ….oh crap! I can’t turn this thing around now.
After that I LOVED IT! Seriously hearts and flowers LOVED IT! I would do it again tomorrow if I could.
There are no words to describe how peaceful it is flying in a hot air balloon. Looking down at the other balloons and Reno was amazing. My pilot was soooo wonderful. He had me laughing and so relaxed during the entire flight. He answered all of my questions and made sure I was comfortable. Which is saying a lot considering we were very close together in the tiny balloon basket.
I was actually sad when the ride came to and end. For just over an hour I didn’t think about work, emails, or really anything and just let myself enjoy the moment. It was more than I could have honestly hoped for!
I can’t wait to share some of the pictures we took during the Great Reno Hot Air Balloon Races. I will make sure and not share all of them since there are over 1,000 downloaded already. I went a bit shutter happy and took A LOT of pictures.
After the balloon ride I finally ate something and relaxed for a few minutes before we headed to Virginia City for the Camel Races. It was truly a day of awe inspiring moments and bucket list dreams coming true.
This is the Kiphaven Balloon that I rode in. The balloon is sponsored by the Reno Lake Tahoe Visitors Bureau. It was so much fun going back the next day and taking pictures of the balloon knowing I had ridden in it.
