HI from Lake Tahoe!
I am in Lake Tahoe with Kia checking out the new 2016 Kia Sorento. I flew into Reno yesterday morning and headed to the Ritz Carlton Lake Tahoe. Last night the event kicked off with a gorgeous cocktail party and dinner.
Random side note…have you ever coveted furniture you find while traveling? Last night the seats outside at the Ritz Carlton were heated and now I need them in my life. Plus they had fluffy gorgeous pillows that I could have easily slept on right outside even with bears in the area.
One of the guys on the trip showed us a photo of a bear in the Ritz Carlton parking garage last night….so not what I expected and note to self I will not be wandering outside by myself at all this trip!
Today we had the chance to drive the Sorento around the Lake Tahoe area and check out how it handles and how comfortable it is.
We started our day driving up into the mountains with the turbo version of the 2016 Kia Sorento. Wow this CUV can move! It was really smooth driving with no resistance going up the mountain hills.
Plus the views were gorgeous! Thankfully my drive partner was more than ok with stopping to take pictures along the way.
There is a wildfire in the area which was causing a lot of smoke on the road and in the trees. I am still not sure if it is a prescribed burn or not.
We could see it from Lake Tahoe and the smoke was hard to miss.
For lunch we headed into the great city of Reno and had lunch right next to the famous Reno sign.
You can’t ask for a much better backdrop pulling into the city.
We finished our drive heading towards Lake Tahoe near Sand Harbor State Park. Sadly we did not have enough time to stop and enjoy the state park again. We pulled off at the pull off for photos but didn’t have time to go hiking in the park. I just love all of the hiking trails that take you along the water. SO GORGEOUS!
We did manage to find time to stop for a fun photo…..
Because how can you not stop when you are driving down the road and see a bear wearing a rain poncho and a santa hat. It was just to good to not stop 🙂
