Yesterday was the first day of our Reno Tahoe adventure weekend! We are spending a couple of days exploring the area and participating in the Reno Hot Air Balloon Race.
We flew in LATE Wednesday night and headed to the Eldorado Hotel. I mean seriously late. We landed at midnight and thankfully had a really easy time finding the hotel. Reno is super easy to get around in so that was fantastic.
We met up with the Reno Tahoe visitors bureau for breakfast to learn about the area on our first day. We enjoyed The Greatful Garden Restaurant. I had a funky town waffle that was soooo good. Oh my goodness a combination of apples, blue cheese and waffle. YUM! John had an Elvis waffle that included bacon, peanut butter and banana. He loved it and I am just happy he didn’t bust out in song while eating it.
After breakfast we headed to Lake Tahoe to explore the area. Holy beautiful!!!!! WOW! We came down the mountain pass into Incline Village and we were in awe!
We have been to Lake Tahoe before but it has been years! I am so glad we had a chance to explore the area. I am ready to book a room for a week and just look at the lake.
The next time we visit we are going to rent kayaks and hopefully spend the day out on the lake. I can not believe how clear the water is. I would have dove in today if I would have packed a swimsuit. Next trip we will dedicate a lot of time to lake activities. It is gorgeous!
Our evening ended with meeting my hot air balloon pilot. EEK! I am riding in hot air balloon for the first time. I am so excited, nervous and well over the top excited. I feel a lot better after meeting my pilot. He is a 757 pilot full time. I figure if he can manage a giant jet he can manage a hot air balloon. Or so I am telling myself right now.
Tons more photos coming soon! It is time to get some sleep before a 3am wakeup call to head out to the Reno Hot Air Balloon Races!
