We were so sad to leave Sanibel Island yesterday! We have truly fallen in love with the area! I can’t even tell you how ready we already are to plan another trip to Sanibel and Captiva Island.
Our final morning was spent relaxing on the beach and shelling. We woke up early and headed to the beach outside of the West Wind Inn. I can not believe the number of shells that are right outside the hotel. The walk along the beach was gorgeous. It’s funny when we first walked out we were picking up a ton of shells and then we realized that we could actually be picky about the shells we picked up.
We were able to fill a couple of bags with a great selection of shells. There were so many cool shells right on the beach.
We also walked along with ibis, herons and terns. I had so much fun taking pictures of the birds and the shells.
Brunch called for the Island Cow again! This restaurant is so much fun! How can you not giggle at a restaurant that is covered in cows and fun tropical decoration.
The food is fantastic and the service was wonderful.
We were so sad to drive off the island and head for the airport. We are already planning when we can visit Sanibel and Captiva Island again soon. The islands are the perfect place to get away for a weekend and just relax.
There is so much to see and do that you forget about your work stress and can take time to just relax together.
John and I had so much fun exploring the island and spending time together. This was just the weekend we needed to relax and just enjoy ourselves!
I can’t thank the Fort Meyers and Sanibel visitors bureau enough for arranging this trip for us. We can’t wait to share some of our favorite pictures from this weekend with everyone. Don’t worry I won’t share all 2500 that we took!!!!
