Let’s be honest and say that we all dream of our engagement ring from the moment we know what a wedding is. We dream of what it will look like, what kind of sparkles it will have, who will give it to us, what they will say, when will it happen, and so many other dreams go into this moment in our lives. I will never forget the day that John proposed while on the beach in Hawaii.
One because he will not let me forget that as he says I swooped in like an eagle to snatch the ring and shove it on my finger I was so excited. He even made a video re-enactment the last time we were in Hawaii so everyone could see just what the engagement was like. Wasn’t that so loving of him? HA!
He had WAY to much fun making this video. John tells everyone that I was a bit of a bird of prey when it came to my ring. But can you blame me? This was the moment I had dreamed of and it was even better than I could have dreamed it would be. We were on the beach at sunset, my parents were there taking pics and celebrating with us. It makes me tear up just thinking about it.
As soon as I had my engagement ring I started to freak out a little bit. Not because of wedding planning but making sure that nothing happened to it. I was so worried that I would break a diamond out of it (which I did a few years later), that I would lose it, or it would get snatched off my finger. So many fears started running through my head.
I did a lot of research on Jewelry Insurance 101 trying to find out everything I could about protecting my ring and making sure it was safe. If this is something you have worried about in the past you can also Get a free jewelry insurance quote to find out how much it is to protect your ring.
Our engagement rings have so much value to them not just monetarily but also sentimental value. So much love, hope, and dreams go into picking the right ring and wearing it daily. John lost his wedding ring about two years after we were married and I was so sad. He came home from work with this look on his face and I knew something was wrong. He has no idea what happened to it but spent hours trying to find it.
Thankfully the store I purchased it from still had the same ring in stock and I was able to order a new one but it doesn’t have the quote that I had inscribed on the inside on it. While it is still amazing and represents our love it isn’t the one that he had at the wedding.
It is hard to believe that a ring can hold so much value and love but I truly feel like it does. I partnered with Jewelers Mutual Insurance for this post because they are the specialists in jewelry insurance. They provide comprehensive insurance plans to take the worry away. We can focus on our marriages, wedding planning, or savor that just engaged feeling instead of stressing over all of the what-ifs that can happen to our rings.
