I had the pleasure of attending the 2015 Disney Social Media Mom Celebration in Orlando and it was truly spectacular! In true Disney fashion the conference brought thrills, excitement, moments of awe, and a few tears. I went into the conference not really knowing what to expect. The sessions and speakers were a surprise with many of us wondering who we would be inspired by during the event.
The event kicked off on Thursday with checking into the Yacht Club and picking up our registration packets. Mickey Mouse was on site to greet us and welcome us to Walt Disney World. I of course had to grab a picture with him. He was dress oh so nicely and it just seemed like the thing to do.
There were great sponsors available to talk with and I can’t thank them enough for making the event happen! You all know we love Alamo and have written about how we use them while traveling. They were one of the fabulous sponsors of the event.
After getting checked in and set up for the conference the night started with an amazing private dinner at Epcot. We were treated to truly amazing food, a live DJ, a visit from Rapunzel and Baymax along with Mickey Mouse and so much more! I could tell that this event was going to be unlike any conference I have had the chance to attend. Disney took care of us every moment of the event.
Friday was our day of sessions and “work” if you want to call listening to Donald Driver Super Bowl Champion speak work. This was one of the highlights of the entire event for me. I knew of Donald Driver before the event but this was my first time hearing him speak. I will have a post up soon that was inspired by listening to Donald Driver. He truly motivated me and I can’t wait to share with everyone what I learned and some of the new things I am going to talk about on the blog that I have been to nervous to share in the past. Oh and he brought me to tears and I was so thankful I had a tissue because my mascara was flowing down my cheeks he had me tearing up so much.
We also heard great tips on Pinterest, videos, and just being great bloggers. The conference was a true motivator and even after six years in this industry I found myself crafting new ideas and projects for the future. One of the other highlights was getting to share a table with some of my absolute favorite woman in the blogging world. These woman are inspirational, motivating and most of all truly great friends. They inspire me daily to push myself harder and reach for more.
Friday we had a few hours before dinner and I managed to power walk my way through Epcot. I am so excited to share my photos from my walking adventure. The flower and garden showcase was going on and the park was filled with amazing character topiaries that I loved and took 100’s of pictures of.
After my power walk I was able to relax and enjoy a gorgeous dinner on the beach at the Yacht Club. Disney brought in a live band, characters and great food for all of us. This was such a great time to meet everyone’s families and spend time relaxing together.
Saturday we got a preview of the new Disney Pixar movie Inside Out coming out this next month! SO FUNNY! I can’t wait to share more about the movie and see how it ends. I am telling you this is a movie the entire family is going to love!
I spent Saturday afternoon wandering through the Magic Kingdom and Epcot. I have to admit you can cover a lot of ground when you are wandering a park on your own. I rode some great rides including Seven Dwarfs Mine Train, It’s a Small World, and of course the Haunted Mansion.
Sunday we ended the conference with a beautiful Mother’s Day brunch. We were serenaded by Voice Play who you may have seen on the Sing Off. They were truly amazing. I can’t wait to check out their YouTube channel and follow their journey. They blend their voices in a way you just can’t believe there isn’t a band backing them up.
After brunch I flew home to celebrate John’s birthday and hopefully take everything I learned during the event and put it into the blog. I truly can’t thank Disney enough for inviting me to the Disney Social Media Moms event and sharing a little bit of Disney magic with me.
