Back in early December, I shared a post on how Twinings of London asked me if I was being my best blend and I realized that I haven’t been my best blend for a while. Writing the post in December really made me stop for a minute and think about what I was doing and how I was living my life. AND THEN Life took over again and I fell hard. December and January were hard months that took a lot of deep breaths and tears. I haven’t really talked about it on the blog because I have been processing so many things.
What I didn’t talk about was the process of building our new house, the stress of almost not getting the house and having to move into my Mother in Laws until the house was done. We ended up having to put our entire life into a storage unit and spend a few weeks at my MIL’s while the house was being finished. I wish I could say that I handled this time of my life with peace and serenity but that would be the biggest lie I could tell you. I was a train wreck and it wasn’t pretty. This time really showed me how important our family is and great friends are. I had to breathe deep and find a place in myself that could handle all of the stress and crazy.
Now it is February and we are in our new house and I am madly deeply in love with it. We are still unpacking boxes and trying to figure things out but we have our own roof over our head and can take time to focus again on being our best blend.
I love thinking about life as being your best blend. So many times we focus on one aspect of our lives work, weight, money and singular pieces of the puzzle. Focusing on being our best blend gives us the chance to look at the whole picture and make sure we are not missing a piece or 5.
While I can say our lives are not completely balanced or calm at this point we are taking steps daily to get back to a balanced and best blend life. John started a new job this week, we are slowly but surely unpacking and I have some fun projects coming up to share with everyone.
One thing I am really focused on is getting back to self-care Saturdays and taking more time to meditate and just be quiet. Taking time to sit in a comfy chair with a hot glass of Twinings Tea and just breathe. Taking time to truly be my best blend and focus on the good that is happening in our lives.
I keep thinking about starting a gratitude jar or journal to write out the life moments that I am so thankful for. I learned in December and January how easy it is to fall into a dark place and focus on the crazy, dark moments and hardships instead of letting the light in. I truly went into a dark spot in life that wasn’t where I needed to be.
Any tips or thoughts on how you are making yourself your best blend in 2018? What are you doing to take a moment for yourself and breathe deep?
I have to send a huge thank you to Twinings of London for starting this conversation and letting me tell my story. Twinings of London has been making amazing blends of tea for over 300 years. They have perfected the blending of flavors to make each tea taste amazing.
The new blends that Twinings of London released are soo good! Trust me when I say you need to add them to your tea cabinet. They are perfect for taking me time and breathing in. My current favorites are Lemon Delight and Berry Fusion. I have a really hard time saying which one is my favorite so I picked two. LOL! Our neighbor came over and enjoyed the Buttermint last night and couldn’t stop talking about how good it is. I am pretty sure she took a few packets home with her to enjoy later.
Did you know that Twinings of London has 17 varieties of herbal tea? One of my favorite things in our new house is the tea cabinet/drawer I am putting together. All of my favorite tea is going in one place with mugs, honey, and everything I need to take a moment and enjoy a hot glass of tea. Pics of the tea cabinet and the rest of the house coming soon. I have been sharing pics and short videos on the Tammilee Tips Life Instagram if you want to check them out.
To brew the perfect cup of Twinings Herbal Tea, bring water to boil and pour over the tea bag as soon as it reaches boiling. Over-boiling will cause oxygen to be reduced, making the tea taste flat. Brew for 4 minute or to desired taste.
Make sure and check out Twinings of London for more great info on their amazing tea!
