We have visited Antigua a couple of times on Caribbean cruises. Each time we are in Antigua we find more and more that we love.
The cruise ship pulls right up to town in Antigua. You can easily walk off the boat and check out the town. Be prepared to be offered many island tours and trinkets when you get off the cruise ship.
We took a island tour with a local cab driver on our last visit to Antigua. It was a great way to get an over view of the island. We were able to see the main highlights of the island and learn about the history.
We stopped at an overlook and visitor area that gave us a great view of the island and Nelson’s Dockyard. It was really interesting to learn how they used to warn the dockyard of incoming pirates and ships from the hillside.
Nelsons Dockyard was really interesting to explore. We learned about the history and the sailing that is done from Nelson’s Dockyard.
The beaches in Antigua are amazing. I can’t wait to visit again and hopefully spend the day soaking up the sun on one of the white sand beaches. I can not believe we have visited the island multiple times and have never made it in the water.
