While I was in Toronto I ignored my fears and went to the top of the CN Tower Toronto.
I had an amazing view of the CN Tower from my hotel room and thought it would be interesting to check out one of the worlds highest towers. I was so excited as we walked toward the CN Tower and looked up to see how high it was.
The observation deck you can see in this picture is 1136 feet in the air or 113 stories high and it is not the highest point…..
We picked up our admission tickets and brochure and we were ready to go…Or at least we had the tickets I am not sure how ready to go I was. While we were on solid ground I hadn’t really thought about how high we would be going to get to the Top of the CN Tower Toronto. As we were waiting for the first elevator I started to read the signs and info saying how high the skypod was and I have to admit my heart was racing a bit and my palms got a bit sweaty.
We went all the way to the top first and checked out the Skypod. The Skypod is 1465 feet tall. That is equal to 146 stories high which is the highest I have been other than in a plane. The observation deck is filled with windows so you can see all around. It was a bit scary yet amazing to look down from the skypod.
From the Skypod we were able to look down on the lower observation deck and people participating in the Edgewalk. You can sign up to walk outside on the observation level 1168 feet high. I am pretty sure this would be crazy thrilling but also crazy scary at the same time. We were able to see the participants looking over the edge. I am pretty sure I would kiss the ground after participating but love it at the same time.
They told us on a clear day you can see the mist from Niagara Falls over 45 miles away. I am honestly not sure if we saw any of the mist since it was a slightly cloudy day and I was not sure which direction to look to see Niagara Falls.
I had to wonder when I saw a sticker showing that you should not crawl on the observation glass. I can not imagine trying to climb out on the glass or lay across it. I was so nervous I had a hard time even coming up to the rail to take pictures at first. After enjoying the Skypod we took a quick elevator ride down to the observation level.
There is an amazing glass floor on the observation level. I can not put into words how odd it is to be looking down 113 stories standing on the glass floor. It took me a few minutes to feel like I could walk out on the floor. I started with putting one toe out on the glass and slowly worked my way out.
There is an outside viewing area on the observation deck. The viewing area reminded me a lot of the Seattle Space Needle just quite a bit higher. I am so glad we waited to walk out the outside area until the end. I don’t know if I would have made it to the skypod level knowing how windy it was.
We walked around the corner and were hit straight on with the wind. For some reason I had not even thought about how windy it would be at the top of the CN Tower Toronto. If you visit I highly suggest going to the top and working your way down. The views from the Skypod are amazing and so worth the extra $12 it costs.
Visiting the CN Tower was one of the highlights of my trip to Toronto. If you are going to be in Toronto I highly suggest going to the top of the CN Tower Toronto. It is a true bucket list experience that you will not forget any time soon.
Looking at the CN Tower from my hotel room after going to the top was fantastic. I love the light show that is done on the sides and top of the CN Tower each night. I am still in awe that we went to the top of the CN Tower Toronto.
