While we were in Las Vegas we visited the Mandalay Bay Shark Exhibit. I had never been to the Mandalay Bay Shark Exhibit and thought it would be the perfect air conditioned break from the sun. We had so much fun walking through the exhibit.
The Mandalay Bay Shark Exhibit is filled with truly amazing exhibits. I really liked how education the exhibits were without feeling like you were in a stuffy museum that you could not enjoy. There are easy to read signs and information posted near all of the exhibits that are perfect for any age. There are photos and graphics for kids and educational writing for adults.
I had never seen a piranha skull before. They are a lot smaller than I pictured them. The employee next to the piranha exhibit explained that the keepers get in the tank and the piranhas do nothing. They are not going to attack humans as we have all heard about in movies and horror flicks. They are more scared of us than we should be of them since we are 1000’s of times their size. (even knowing this I am not volunteering to get into a piranha cage any time soon)
There are beautiful decorations through out the Mandalay Bay Shark Exhibit. You feel like you have stepped into a South American tribal village and have the opportunity to be one with the wildlife.
The exhibits are built so everyone can see into them. Small children can press their faces up to the glass and get a close up view of lizards, fish, sharks and so much more.
The shark tanks at the Mandalay Bay Shark Exhibit are definitely the most awe inspiring parts of the tour. You get to walk through a glass enclosed tunnel and watch sharks swim over your head. It is a bit eerie feeling to luck up at a giant shark swimming right above you.
There is a hands on area were you have the opportunity to touch a skate. They are used to humans and gently swim around their touch tank. There is an employee there to watch out for the safety of the animals and make sure that everyone is acting appropriately. There is anti-bacterial wash so you can clean up after touching the animals.
The jellyfish tank is beautiful. I could sit for hours and just watch them float around inside of the tank. They are truly amazing to watch.
At the end of the tour there is a truly gigantic shark tank that you feel like you have walked into a ship wreck. I have never seen turtles as big as the ones that were in the shark tank. There is a seating area so you can sit back and just watch the sharks go by. The kids in the area were in awe of being able to sit and just watch the sharks. This would be a great area to relax on a hot Vegas afternoon in the A/C for a while.
We went to the Mandalay Bay Shark Exhibit on our own. This is not a sponsored post. I just thought it was so much fun that I would share it.
