While we were in Barbados we took the Mount Gay Rum Tour. We love learning about how products are made and their impact on a country. The Mount Gay Rum Tour is really interesting and a lot of fun.
The Mount Gay Rum tour is located a bit away from the port terminal. We took a taxi there and were able to easily find one back to the port terminal. I think it is a couple of miles so you could walk but it is super hot and there is not a lot of shade.
The tour costs a few dollars and is well worth it. We learned about the history of Mount Gay Rum and how the rum production impacted Barbados.
You have the chance to watch a movie about rum production and tour a small museum showcasing pieces of Mount Gay Rum history.
At the end of the tour you have the chance to taste multiple types of rum. I highly suggest having a nice breakfast on the boat before you head out for this tour. I was slightly tipsy by the time I tried all of the flavors of rum.
Across the street from the Mount Gay Rum Tour is one of the prettiest beaches I have seen in the Caribbean. The white sand, blue water and perfect landscape beckoned us to visit. It is hard to believe looking at this picture you are in the middle of a industrial part of town.
