This is a sponsored conversation written by me on behalf of SANUS. The opinions and text are all mine.

What you need to know to pick out a TV Wall Mount.

We have been looking at setting up a new TV Wall Mount in the house and it has been a learning process. Going into it, all I knew was that I wanted the TV mounted to the wall and I didn’t want to see the TV cords. Sounds easy right…well there is a bit more that goes into it I have learned over the past few weeks.

Thankfully the great team at SANUS has set up a ton of resources to help each of us find out what TV wall mount we really need.

Did you know that the style of mount depends on the type of tv you buy, who makes it, and how you want the mount to move or be positioned. SANUS has this great MountFinder tool that makes it super easy to pick out what mount you need for your new TV.

All you need is the TV brand, size and model number and the SANUS MountFinder will tell you which mounts work for your new TV. No guessing needed and you don’t end up mulling over all the choices in store only to find out the mount you bought doesn’t work with your TV when you go to install it.

On the SANUS site you will see the mounts broken out into 3 categories: full motion (sometimes called articulating or swivel) ; tilt and fixed.

a. Full motion: great for corners and if you need to view from different areas of the room or an adjoining room, (like if you want to watch from the kitchen) you can easily pull the TV out and adjust to watch, then push it back in for a clean look. This also has tilt option to eliminate glare so you can place above eye level.

b. Tilt: reduce glare and still have access to cables, good for fitness room or gaming or above a fireplace and need to tilt downward

c. Fixed: low profile, almost flush to the wall which is great for aesthetics. You will need to place the TV directly in front of the viewing area.

You want to have an idea of how you want your TV to look in the room. I am going back and forth between a full motion or a tilt mount but haven’t decided. I like that idea that with full motion you can move the TV around to see it from different parts of the room. This would be great if you have a room that gets a lot of light and you need to move the TV so there is no glare on it.

I also think about the low profile that comes from having a fixed mount. Not having the TV stick out very far sounds really appealing aesthetically. Oh the decisions.

One thing for sure we will definitely be using the SANUS MountFinder and HeightFinder tools when we get our new TV.

I love that I don’t have to stress over knowing where to place the tv or what kind of mount to use. I can trust in the experience SANUS has from being in the business.

The HeightFinder tool takes so much guess work out of the mounting process. You enter in the type of TV you have, the mount and how high you want the tv to be. The HeightFinder tells you exactly where to drill the holes you need for your mount.

I am so happy there is a tool that can tell me where to place the drill holes. I don’t know about you but any time we have to put a hole in the wall I feel like my heart is beating out of my chest. The last thing I want is extra holes in the wall to patch up or deal with covering.

With the HeightFinder tool I can know that I only have to mount the TV once and I am done. You can even move your tv up and down in the HeightFinder tool to see how it looks and where to place the drill holes.

Mounting the new TV is a high priority for me not only because I think it looks amazing on the wall but also for safety. SANUS has partnered with SafeKids Worldwide for the last 5 years to build awareness at about TV tip overs and provide solutions for childhood injury prevention. The CSPC says 1 child dies from TV/Furniture tip over every 2 weeks. See tvsafety.org to find out more.

The last thing I want is for someone to get hurt from our TV. It is safer and looks amazing so getting a TV Wall Mount seems like a no brainer to me.

Now we just have to agree on what kind of TV to get. Everytime we walk into Best Buy John and I keep looking at TV’s. I want to top of line killer TV that looks good and has amazing color and pictures. John wants the same thing but isn’t sure how big we should get. I love that I am the one pushing for the bigger TV instead of John. I think football games will look amazing on a killer new TV. Lol!
