Oh my gosh Grand Turk is simply paradise! So beautiful! We spent the day in Grand Turk on the Carnival Conquest. The ship pulled into port around 7am during a crazy rain storm. The rain started off as a drizzle and built into a sideways storm of craziness.
It was amazing to watch.
I have to admit something that I can’t believe I am going to admit in writing. If you have a balcony cabin or a cabin with a window make sure you close your curtains before you pull into port. I didn’t think about the curtains being partially open and took a shower and then hopped out to get dressed. As I was standing by the closet pulling out clothes wearing nothing at all I saw movement to my left out the window. During the time I was in the shower the Holland America Westerdam had pulled into port right along side us….yep I was making eye contact with their guests and I was well not dressed for the occasion or well not dressed at all. Ooops!
We quickly shut the curtains and fell over laughing because what else do you do when you have managed to flash an entire cruise ship. oh my!
Had a blast deep sea fishing this morning in Grand Turk! I caught a blackfin tuna while 2 others caught barracuda. We also had a beautiful rainbow this morning but came at the price of high seas in the open water, needless to say there were several very sick individuals on board but we all survived!
After that lovely wake up call John headed out to go deep sea fishing! He booked an excursion with Carnival and fulfilled something on his bucket list. I can’t wait for John to share more about his trip!
I spent a lazy morning wandering on the ship and in the port terminal. The Grand Turk port terminal is gorgeous! There are a ton of shops, a giant pool next to Margaritaville and one of our favorite beaches in the Caribbean. All you have to do is walk off the ship and you are on the beach = HEAVEN ON EARTH!
After John’s excursion we met up at Margaritaville for a cheeseburger in paradise and well it’s 5 o’clock somewhere. That is the cocktail and the vibe of the restaurant 🙂
We enjoyed a bit more time in Grand Turk before heading back on the Carnival Conquest. The afternoon included an incredibly long cruise ship nap. There is just something about the gentle rocking of the ship that puts me to sleep and I love taking cruise ship naps. I feel so good afterwards.
We woke up just in time for this gorgeous sunset and dinner. Dinner was hilarious as we caught up with Julie and Stacey and their husbands. We giggled our way through a delicious dinner including amazing mac and cheese, prosciutto with melon, Italian sausage linquini, and of course chocolate melting cake. They also had a smores parfait that everyone loved
For the evening we relaxed in the lobby bar watching the ship band Shiplash sing classic rock hits. We spent hours just relaxing with a frosty beverage and listening to them play. The people watching was amazing. There is a group on board that celebrated Halloween for a 2nd night in a row. We got to sit and watch a ton of costumes walk by.
What else do you do when you are up at midnight but head to Pizza Pirate for a late night slice of delicious pizza and more laughter among friends.
Plus a stop at the ice cream machine for a cone and it was off to bed.
We are having so much fun cruising with friends! It is so nice being able to meet up and laugh while still getting to relax as a couple. Tomorrow we are in La Romana, Dominican Republic!
We are on a press trip with Carnival. All opinions expressed are our own.
