There was no way we were going to miss even a few hours enjoying Sand Harbor State Park Lake Tahoe. This state park is honestly amazing. There is so much to see and do and the views of Lake Tahoe are beyond picturesque.
Sand Harbor State Park offers everything from an easy walking trail, stand up paddle boarding, kayaking, swimming and so much more. There is something for all ages at this park.
From the moment you pull into the park you are greeted with amazing views of Lake Tahoe!
There is an easy walking path that takes you along the shoreline of Lake Tahoe. The walking path is elevated boardwalk that skims the edge of the lake and takes you towards the beach access. The walk takes about 25 minutes give or take how much time you spend taking pictures.
There are benches and pull outs along the way to take a break and enjoy the view. These are the perfect place to enjoy a picnic lunch or just soak up the view for a few minutes.
Sand Harbor to Memorial Point Trail: The short, half-mile trail offers a link to Memorial Point and provides access to many secluded beach and rock areas.
Sand Point Nature Trail: The one-third-mile Sand Point Nature Trail is a handicap-accessible trail with interpretive signs and breathtaking views of Lake Tahoe.

Park Hours: Sand Harbor Main Beach: May 1 – Memorial Day, 8 am-7 pm; day after Memorial Day – Labor Day, 8 am – 9 pm; day after Labor Day – September 30, 8 am – 7 pm; October 1 through April 30, 8 am-5 pm.
Visitor Center: The Sand Harbor visitor center and gift shop is available for self-guided tours with informative displays and regional information. A snack bar and grill concession offers snacks and drinks on a relaxing, shady deck.
There is a great sandy beach with easy access into the water if you would like to go swimming.
Sand Harbor State Park Lake Tahoe truly offers something for everyone. You can spend 30 minutes here or all day and have a great time. There is a ranger station, store and information center on site if you have any questions or need anything. Depending on the time of year there is a concession stand with food available.
If you are planning on visiting Sand Harbor State Park during the busy season make sure you arrive early or be prepared to wait for parking. This park is really popular and can fill up fast during the busy season.
