We have been on a mission this year to find the best spots for sunsets in Spokane and around the world. Our instagram feed is filled with our favorite sunsets as we explore our local area and farther abroad.
This winter John had the chance to work at Mt. Spokane State Park and loved it. He was able to explore a ton of the park and told me that we had to go back and see sunset during the summer. A few weeks ago we finally made this happen. The trip up the mountain was on a whim as we were leaving dinner with a friend. We were talking about the sunset that night and decided to head up the mountain. Of course I did not have my nice camera with me so all of these pics are with my phone.
We stopped by the visitor center to talk with Steve the manager of the park and found out his favorite place to get amazing sunset photos. He advised us to drive up the hill and head towards the Vista House. On your way up the hill there is gorgeous views over the valley. From the top the views are a bit obstructed with the trees. You have to maneuver around a bit to get a great sunset view.
Mount Spokane State Park is a 13,919-acre camping park in the Selkirk Mountains. The view at the top of the 5,883-foot elevation includes surrounding states and Canada. The forested park features stands of old-growth timber and granite rock outcroppings. This is the perfect park to spend a day exploring and then finish off with a beautiful sunset view!
