I love Puerto Rico!!!!!
I mean seriously hearts and flowers please can I hop on a plane today love Puerto Rico!
There is just so much to see and do!
We were first introduced to Puerto Rico in sort of a random way. We were on our honeymoon in the Mediterranean and met a couple from Puerto Rico. We spent 2 weeks cruising the Mediterranean learning about Puerto Rico and becoming great friends. Fast forward a couple of years and we had the chance to visit them in Puerto Rico.
From the moment I stepped off the plane in San Juan, I was in love! Warm tropical air, amazing people, oh my goodness the food, the beaches, there is just so much to see and do in Puerto Rico!
San Juan is filled with easily accessible historical sites that all ages will enjoy! You can wonder San Juan National Historical Sites including Castillo San Cristobal and Castillo San Felipe del Morro.
The forts are easy to walk around and offer stunning views!
Make sure to visit one of the historic and iconic watch towers inside the fort!
If you like tropical rainforests and adventure you can check out El Yungue National Forest!
Walking through El Yunque is amazing! There are fantastic hiking trails, waterfalls, historic sites and so much more! Be prepared to take 100’s of photos as you explore the rain forest!
Make sure to say HI to the locals as you wander through El Yunque
Now I would be sorely remiss if I did not mention the crazy amazing food!!!!
As you can see John thoroughly enjoyed the food!
I am going to fully admit that I am not a food truck person normally. For some reason, I have always been scared of trying food from a truck. When we visit Puerto Rico my fears are thrown to the way side and I dive head first into truck food.
Our friends introduced us to Puerto Rican food and we fell instantly in love.
While visiting you HAVE to try mofongo, plantains, coconut milk and of course a pina colada since it was created in San Juan.
We have had the pleasure of visiting three times and I would go back in a heart beat. There are seriously so many amazing things about Puerto Rico I could write for days and days about this amazing island!
