This year I wanted to make a cute Valentine’s Day Wreath for John’s Mom as a surprise gift. I have to admit I have never made a wreath before. I keep seeing them all over Pinterest and thought I would give it a shot. I had so much fun making this wreath. I made it while we watched TV one night and it turned out better than I could have hoped for. I will definitely be making more wreaths for upcoming holidays.
To make the wreath I picked up a few supplies at Lowe’s, Walmart and the Dollar Store. Yes I said Lowe’s. I used plumbing parts to make the wreath. You can pick up long tubes of Styrofoam in the plumbing department for a couple of dollars. This is a lot cheaper than buying pre-made wreaths at the craft store!
I cut the tubing to the size I wanted and attached it with packaging tape.
I started the wreath with red yarn that I had already. I wrapped the yard tightly around the Styrofoam being careful to make sure it was lined up nicely.
After wrapping the entire wreath I added in accent pieces. The red flowers are from the dollar store. I cut them with wire cutters and stuck them into the wreath. The hearts are made with scrap paper from scrapbooking.
We have 14 days of Frugal Valentine’s Day gifts on the blog!
