Home sweet home! This week I have been home all 7 days and it has been magical! Ok, magical may be a bit of a stretch considering I caught up on some serious laundry and house cleaning but I also didn’t put any make-up on or curl my hair.
So there is that fun aspect of being home. I am pretty sure John is overseeing my flamingo pajama pants as I have been living in them every chance I get. It is not often that I get to just be home and get stuff done. I am not complaining about traveling trust me but every once in a while you have to step on the brakes and take care of life stuff.
This week was all about life stuff! One of the highlights of the week for me was bringing a ton of donations to Project Beauty Share! I have been collecting toiletry items, hotel toiletries, samples, and everything I could find to donate to Project Beauty Share for a while. If you haven’t heard of Project Beauty Share I highly suggest checking out their website!
I LOVE their mission of helping the woman in our community that need a bit of assistance. Since the inception of Project Beauty Share they have sorted, sanitized and distributed over 50,000 pounds of beauty and hygiene products to women in need. How crazy cool is that!
The donations uplift woman and help them feel great about themselves. We all know how good we feel when we have our hair done and get our make-up just right. Project Beauty Share provides women the tools they need to feel their best. It felt so good to bring in bags of products that we have been collecting and talk with the ladies who run Project Beauty Share. They are a completely volunteer run program and they have so much heart and love for the work they are doing.
One thing I thought was really cool is if you don’t have a program in your area but still want to donate you can mail in your donations to Project Beauty Share. Just make sure they are packaged safely so they don’t get banged up or open during shopping.

When you are at a hotel you can collect the toiletries and donate those. Even a small bottle of shampoo, conditioner, and soap can help a woman feel clean.
My goal is to pick up as many hotel toiletries as I can during my travels and keep a box in my house to collect them in. When it is full I am going to make a point of bringing them to Project Beauty Share. When you see items on sale or clearance at the store you can buy an extra couple and add them to the box. It is such an easy way to pay it forward and make a difference in someone’s life!
The rest of the week was spent cuddling up to the cats, getting the house spring cleaned, and taking more things for donations. I am on a mission to clean out our house of extra clutter and it feels so good!
We have to move by the end of the year we found out recently. Now we have to decide where we are going to move to, what kind of house we really need, or what we want to do. This is spurring me on to be ruthless in cleaning things out. On the other hand, it is crazy thinking about donating things and then 6 months from now needing them in a new house. UGH!
Do you clean it all out now and then wait and see what you need or feel cluttered and overwhelmed but have the things just in case you need them?
So many life decisions!
One decision we won’t have to make is moving the giant mirror that used to be over the dresser. Our basement has been flooding a bit so we decided to move the dresser to a different room. When John went to remove one of the screws behind the mirror the entire thing fell to the floor. Thankfully missing my shoulders and back by a couple of inches. I can now say that this room is now the most vacuumed room in our house…lol
A big trip to donate plus a stop at Starbucks.. my reward for getting through more stuff in the house.
Remember back in January when I attended Alt Summit in Palm Springs..well I won a $1,000 Hayneedle gift card while I was there. EEK! Oh my! After weeks/months of trying to decide what to get because their website is crazy amazing and I wanted IT ALL! I finally made my decision and my stuff arrived this week. I picked out a new desk and bookshelf for the office and an outdoor firepit that I have dreamed about for years! Now I have to make the decision of putting it all together for my office now or waiting until I figure out where we are moving. I really want to get my office set up but then I think about how nice and protected everything is in the boxes right now for when we move. Life decisions….
John and I did go to Starbucks to just talk about life and our plans for the rest of the year. I don’t think we made any real decisions but it was super nice to relax with my cute husband.
Tulips make me very happy!
Being home also means 800+ photos of the cats along with lots of cuddle time. I am not sure what to say about Fluffy Cat in the pic above here. I walked into the bedroom and this is how he was sprawled out..super comfy that is for sure.
We enjoyed one of the bottles of wine that I brought home from the wine tour excursion I did in Ensenada, Mexico last week on the Carnival Live Cruise. I told John it was $105.00 and he gave me a look like what did you do. I might have forgotten to mention that it was $105 Peso which was about $6 US. It was so fun getting the look and then I couldn’t help but fall over laughing. Evil wife for the win!
I hope you all have a truly amazing week! I will be heading to NYC this week to meet with CVS and learn more about some upcoming programs they are working on. Then I am off to Salt Lake City for the Snap Conference which I have never been to before. I am so excited to meet new bloggers, learn a ton hopefully and see more of Salt Lake City. I always seem to fly through Salt Lake City but have never made it outside the airport.
Let me know if you have any suggestions on things I have to do while in Salt Lake City or NYC.
