Can we talk about the fact that it is the last day of April…how is this possible. Does anyone know where the month went because I seem to have blinked and it was over? Seriously! It is May tomorrow! EEK!
This week was filled with adventure, travel, real life, and so much chai I should buy stock in Starbucks. Or I should convince Starbucks to sponsor my chai addiction…hmmm I wonder if that is a thing.
This is how I greeted John at the airport….I figured I should make sure the sign said John so random people didn’t think I was trying to pick up a cute new husband..I never thought to do that when I was single. HA!
We spent the first part of the week in Utah exploring Arches and Canyonlands National Park. We had BIG plans to photograph the parks and get updated info from John’s new website Park Ranger John. A funny thing happened on Monday…the weather sucked. Big gray clouds, rain showers, and blah skies that did not lead to gorgeous photography.
You know how sometimes life presents you with something you didn’t know you needed. This is exactly what happened while we were in Utah. I was sitting at a park bench flipping through a random tourist guidebook when I saw that Mesa Verde was only a few hours drive from Moab, Utah. Mesa Verde has been on my bucket list of parks for a LONG TIME! I remember my grandmother talking about visiting the park as a kid and telling me how beautiful it was. John walked out of the bathroom and I almost yelled at him that we should go to Mesa Verde. He was a bit confused at first but as I showed him the maps and my excitement went a little over the top we decided to do it.
We hopped in our rental and headed to Colorado…with only google maps and a whim to guide us to the park. We ended up getting to the park 15 minutes before the visitor center closed. Thank goodness we had a few minutes in the visitor center because the ranger helped us know exactly what we should see before the sun went down. The park is beyond amazing and I am so thrilled that we took the time to go.
This side trip was a reminder to trust your gut and go with the flow when life throws you a new adventure.
We headed home Tuesday night on Alaska Air and were treated to this gorgeous sunset! There is just something amazing about sunset from a plane.
Oh and I have to tell you a funny story….
I received this super cute unicorn USB phone charger while I was at the Snap Conference last week. I had it in my carry on bag when we went through security. For some reason, the shape of the unicorn alerted TSA that it was unusual and needed to be checked in secondary. This meant that 2 TSA agents had to go through my carry-on bag and look at every piece of tech. They kept picking it up and examining it super closely and asking what it was. Finally, after a few minutes, they decided it was super cute and not a bomb. So there you go…cute unicorn USB’s give you the chance to get really friendly and talk with TSA for a while. It was hilarious.
The rest of the week has been spent doing life stuff. You know the fun of laundry, dishes, cleaning the house and working. Which I have to admit I love. I realized I spent 14 hours at my desk in one day this week and I was so energized and excited to do it.
Run face first towards your biggest fear. Take big, audacious action in the direction of your dreams and do not let the fact you’re wetting your pants stop you!
My current favorite line from the book You are a Bad Ass at Making Money! Which I am so in love with it is kind of crazy over the top like my love for chai.
If you will excuse me I will be running head first at my dreams while praying I don’t wet myself…because that is how life works…
http://amzn.to/2qqTMdY (and this is an aff link, I get paid if you buy it but just think you are helping me pay for depends so I don’t wet myself too much while running for my dreams.) 🙂 way too much TMI but hey what’s a girl to do.
We spent a bit of time cleaning out the back shed/garage and well found 2 cute little kittens we didn’t plan on seeing. It looks like shorty mc’short stuf the outdoor cat that I feed has been a bit active we will say. I think the kittens are maybe 1-2 weeks old. We are going to leave them in the garage and let Shorty take care of them for a few weeks and then check in on them again. They look so tiny and cute.
Did you see the new Kinky Bubbles Cocktail recipe we shared this week! Trust me it is delicious and you need to make it!
Next week we are heading out on an epic National Park adventure! I am so excited to spend time with John doing what we love. Plus we are celebrating his nephews high school graduation, attending TBEX blog conference and so much more.
I hope this week is truly amazing for you and you are running towards your dreams!
