Wow! What a week! This week started off with a National Park and ended at a different National Park. We had so much fun exploring the South. Thank you to everyone who responded on Facebook letting us know what restaurants and places we need to check out.
We started off the trip by flying into Nashville and heading straight to Loveless Cafe! Hello biscuits! YUM!!!
After stuffing ourselves with more biscuits than I should admit or counted we met up with our friends Love and Olive Oil to catch up. They are amazing food writers and you should def check out their beautiful recipes.
From Nashville we headed to Mammoth Cave National Park. This was our first time visiting the park and it was really cool. You all know my thoughts on caves…not a fan if you have missed me talking about the lovely caves in the Philippines or Belize. For some reason the world things that I should have caves in my life.
I made it through the cave and survived but I am not sure I thrive in that environment. We somehow ended up on the tour you have to bend over on to not hit your head on the cave…We missed the Mammoth part of Mammoth Cave..Which means John thinks we need to go back and do it again. Oh caves we have a love/hate relationship.
From Mammoth Cave we headed out on a GPS driven adventure to reach Pigeon Forge and our hotel. We spent a lot of time exploring the back roads and seeing part of the US that we hadn’t explored before.
I have no idea why the picture says Venice, California…. I totally missed that the snapchat filter was off until I just loaded it in the post. Score 1 for me being observant when using filters. HA!
I have no words…
We may have eaten at 1 or 12 Cracker Barrels this week..I can’t help it. I love them!
Have I mentioned that we are small children and like to find random ways to amuse ourselves while waiting for dinner. Snapchat filters for the win and lots of giggles!
The Great Smoky Mountains were gorgeous!!! I never feel like we have enough time to really enjoy and explore this park. We are always on the go to get from one place to the next. Both John and I agreed that we need to plan an entire week to explore the Smoky Mountains.
I am pretty sure being in the park longer would help with wildlife photography…
After the Smoky Mountains we headed to Alabama to see John’s family. Randomly John’s nephew graduated from high school the same week that we were in town. We were able to have family time and take a day off from driving all over the place.
Not too long of a break because we had more parks to visit! Plus we needed to head to Huntsville, Alabama for the TBEX Conference
I know this won’t surprise you but I totally bought this pink flamingo for my office. I don’t know what it is about flamingos but I need all of them right now.
I feel like we only scratched the service of things to see in Huntsville, Alabama. John and I both agreed that we need to plan a return trip to explore the city more.
We had a great time at TBEX and loved talking with other travel writers and spending time together. Saturday night we headed back to see John’s family for a quick dinner before heading to a Marriott near the Atlanta Airport for the night.
Sunday morning we headed to Miami for more National Park adventures!!!
I have to send out a quick so sorry that this is late to everyone! This week was a whirlwind of parks, driving and travel! I am a bit behind but hope to get caught up soon! I am still traveling and working from the road.
Forgive me for being late please and I promise to get back on schedule soon!
I hope you have a truly amazing week!!!
