This week was spent at home getting caught up on life and adding in two new furry friends to our household. You may remember a year or so ago when we finally brought fluffy inside. Well his feral girlfriend is still outside and wants nothing to do with us minus being fed each morning. Well, she also found a new boyfriend and we found 3 little kittens in our shed a couple months back. We have been watching the growth and changes as they have gone from tiny little fluff balls to full size kittens.
We think they are about 15 weeks old from what we can tell. This week we set a wildlife trap outside on the deck to see if we could start to catch them. I really want to catch momma cat and get her fixed so we stop having a rotating cycle of kittens. This is the 3rd set we know of and I hate the idea of so many kittens being out in the wild.
Within 2 minutes of setting the trap, we had a whirling mass of gray fur in the trap. I thought it might have been momma cat and couldn’t believe we got her on day 1. What I found when I got to the trap were two kittens that we had named Bandit and Pip Squeak just from their antics and looks over the past few months. I brought the kittens inside and set them up in a large kennel downstairs.
Over the past few days we have been working on handling them and building trust with them. They are so cute and are finally starting to trust us little by little. They are fully in love with Fluffy and will follow him wherever he walks downstairs.
Kitty Kitty is still not sure what she thinks of them and is pretty darn territorial about things. She has been waking me up at 2 am to remind me that she is in the house and deserves all of my attention.
If you have any experiences with bringing new kittens in the house while having adult cats I would love any advice that you might have!
We also got John’s eyes checked again and they are doing amazing! His doctor said they are actually getting better and he could use less of a prescription for glasses if he wanted. After all the stress of the retina detachment a couple of years ago this was such amazing news. I feel like we can finally not stress about the eye appointments and worry that something is super wrong. His eye doctor said he doesn’t need to see him for a YEAR!!! So happy!
Though getting these amazing shots of my husband after his eyes are dilated is one of the highlights of the eye appointments. HA!
Looking ahead this next week is all about getting things done. We are working on ParkRangerJohn.com a ton and trying to make sure we get you all the park info you need to finish off your summer travels. Let us know if there is a specific park you are interested in learning more about.
I hope you have a truly amazing week!
