This week was kind of all over the place with trips to Seattle and then Orlando plus life in between. We headed to Seattle on Monday morning for a super quick trip to see my parents and get new tires/shop at Sam’s Club. Later this week I have a killer new recipe to share with you made with delicious ingredients I picked up at Sam’s Club.
Before we headed to Seattle I went in for my first Mammogram. I am going to admit to being super nervous but I knew it needed to get done. I wrote this on Facebook afterward
Ladies, I think we need to chat about mammograms for a minute and the negative rhetoric that is out there.
For years I have heard how painful a mammogram is going to be, how much I will hate it and so many other negative things. To the point that I put it off for 6 months because I didn’t want to deal with it.
Then I woke up one day and realized that what would hurt way more than a mammogram is getting breast cancer and not knowing it or catching it early.
This morning I had my first mammogram and it was barely 10 minutes out of my life and that is with the machine acting up.
Was it painful…not really! Did I feel uncomfortable…not at all. My tech was super professional and friendly. They do this all day everyday and just want to make sure we are healthy.
Please don’t let the negative things you hear about mammograms stop you from getting one!
We are all in this together so let’s raise each other up and not spread fear to the point other woman do not get mammograms.
The response to this post has been amazing! Please if you are thinking about putting off getting a mammogram stop right now and make your appointment. It was quite literally not even 10 minutes out of my life and could easily save my life.
I felt so much better knowing that I had finally gone in and made it happen. I have been due to get a mammogram since I turned 40 in August and honestly I kept putting it off with the excuse of life. BUT the excuse is not worth it! Get it done!
Right after my mammogram, we headed to Seattle which was a gorgeous drive. Sadly we were so busy chatting with each other I didn’t think to get any photos along the way.
I do love that I can be in the car with my super cute husband for 5 hours and not run out of things to talk about even after all of these years.
This is Yinny one of my parents cats. She loves John so much that she left a drool puddle on his shirt. I wish I could share the purring and noises of happiness she makes when she is in his arms.
You know those couples that you shake your head in wonder at because they are sickeningly cute with each other. Well, I am pretty sure we fell into that group this week even more. LOL! We went to get pedicures and ended up with matching toes. Completely not planned but oh so funny.
Can I also say I never thought I would share a pic of my toes online.
We have to pause for a moment and talk about these Skylar Rae® Cherries from Stemilt Growers. You guys! Holy yummy goodness! When they reached out and asked if we wanted to try the sweetest cherry we will ever eat I said Yes in a heartbeat! John is a cherry freak! To the point that our house always has at least one thing of cherries in it if not more all summer long.
I was really glad the box arrived while John was at work because I wasn’t sure I would get any once he tried them. I am so glad I was able to enjoy them before I flew out to Orlando because when I came home they were GONE! Seriously all of them were gone and John asked when we were going to the store to get more of them.
I love that the Skylar Rae® cherries are grown at Stemilt orchards in Washington State. A truly home state delicacy for us! This summer you can find Skylar Rae® cherries at Spokane Yoke’s Fresh Market’s and Rosauers. Keep an eye out and make sure and buy a package or three! Trust me you will not be disappointed. I am already thinking of all of the recipes I want to make with them this summer. That is as long as I can keep them away from John long enough to get them into a recipe.
Thursday morning I caught and early morning flight to Orlando on Alaska Air! It was a great flight and I made it to my hotel in perfect time to get ready for the Blogher conference to kick off. I was at the conference as an ambassador for Best Buy which was ah-mazing. They set up a suite filled with LG Appliances and a new HP Spectre laptop along with having Geek Squad team members on site to answer questions.
One of my favorite parts of the event was spending time with the Best Buy film crew sharing the suite and what was happening at Blogher. The film crew is amazing and I wish I could spend more time filming with them. They are hilarious and make it so easy to have fun on camera.
AND….Best Buy had Carla Hall in their suite signing her cookbook and being all around amazing. Have you ever met someone and just wished you could go out to dinner and drinks with them. That is how I felt the moment I met Carla Hall. I want to spend time with her laughing and just being in her presence. She was so sweet, friendly and down to earth.
The conference flew by so quickly! It felt like a blink of an eye and I was back at the airport heading home.
I am loving the summer sunsets right now. This was at close to 9pm at Sea-Tac!
We can’t go a week and not include pics of these two! It was so nice coming home and cuddling with them.
Looking ahead to next week I will be spending the ENTIRE Week at home! I know it’s crazy but oh so true! We are making a couple of big donations I can’t wait to share with you next week. I am also working on some fun new recipes and getting caught up on laundry/life.
Just in case you missed the announcement! We are giving away an Apple Watch and Instax Camera! Make sure and enter to win an Apple Watch! It is our thank you to you for spending part of your day with us.
