Happy New Year! Welcome to 2017!
I am so excited for the new year and have so many goals set up for the year. As we look back on the last week of 2016 I spent a lot of time this week reflecting on the year and how truly amazing it was.
I am so thankful for the amazing friends I have made through blogging! This year really was filled with so many moments of joy!
Sunday – Merry Christmas
Christmas started with a lazy morning sleeping in which was such a treat. The cats even curled up with us and let us sleep in which is a Christmas miracle. We worked for a while in the morning making plans for the week. John was off for 4 days in a row, and we are home the whole time which is another Christmas miracle. Lots of big plans for the week.
Dashing through the snow In a Jeep Wrangler,, Over the fields we go, Laughing all the way; Bells on bob-tail ring, Making spirits bright, What fun it is to ride and sing A sleighing song tonight. Jingle bells, jingle bells, Jingle all the way! O what fun it is to ride In a Jeep Wrangler all the way.
The afternoon was spent celebrating the holidays with John’s family. There was tons of food including my favorite sweet potato dish from his Uncle Bob. I am sure it has zero calories since it is Christmas.
We surprised John’s Mom with a Keurig already set up in her house. She was speechless and kept looking at us in awe. It was so much fun. We ended up having to leave the holiday celebration a bit early because of a sewage alarm in the park. Yep, a sewage alarm! What everyone wants to work on any day of the year but especially on Christmas. Thankfully John did not have to get into the system and only had to work on some buttons.
Monday – Dec 26th
We headed out for a day of exploring, breakfast with friends and winter photography. This is the view over the Spokane River from the park that John works at.
How cute is this tiny cottage of Cracker Barrel?
Don’t worry I ended up showing Scott the pics. He had never heard of snapchat or filters which were a lot of fun.
We tried to go and see the bald eagles at Lake Coeur D Alene, but there is so much snow you could barely see the Eagles. They blended in so well with the trees. Hopefully, we can get back out there this next week to see them. It is one of our favorite winter activities.
Tuesday – Dec 27th
Have I mentioned we have a bit of snow…..
Wednesday, Dec 28th
Finally made an appointment to get my hair chopped off. I wish I had an after pic but a funny thing happened. My hairdresser is a friend, and we started talking about travel. Well we lost track of time and when John came to pick me up my hair was still wet, and she was still cutting it. I had to leave as soon as she was done cutting so John could make it to a PT appointment.
I ended up sitting in Starbucks with wet hair while John went to his appointment. Let’s just say it was quite a look.
Spent my time plotting out 2017 and making big goals!
My Dyson handheld that I LOVE decided to die and give up on doing its job. Thankfully I have been stockpiling my Best Buy gift cards and last night upgraded to this bad boy. Pretty sure I am full adult and can’t deny it due to my overwhelming excitement over my new vacuum.
If you need me this morning, I will be vacuuming everything!

I have a cold and feel blah…which means the entire day was spent reading and curling up with kitty cats! If you can’t tell from my Kindle app, I am now hooked on a new author to me Kathleen Brooks. I am loving the mystery/romance books. I have been reading them every day.
Saturday – Dec 31st
HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!
Our big plans for the night…go grocery shopping and stock up on essentials since there is another snowstorm due to hit late tonight. We will be rining in the new year from the comfort of the couch.
Wine of the week!
We have been bringing wine home from our travels a lot over the past few years. It is a great way to bring home a souvenir from a fun destination and think back on our trip there. One thing we realized recently is we have been really good about bringing them home but not so good at actually drinking them. We have been stocking our wine cabinet with wine to the point that now we are stacking wine bottles on the top of it and setting them wherever we can.
It is time we started drinking and enjoying the wines that we have brought home! So to help facilitate pushing ourselves to drink more wine and cleaning out the wine cabinet a bit we are starting a wine of the week section of our weekly diary. We are going to try 1 bottle of wine each week from our travels and share it on the blog.
This week we are kicking off with this Villa Montorsoli Chianti that John bought in Sorrento, Italy during the Carnival Vista cruise. John spent the day in Sorrento exploring the wine region while I attended the Carnival Horizon event. It was a gorgeous sunny day in Italy and the perfect time to pick up a few bottles of great wine.
John found this Chianti at a grocery store for something like $5 euro. John said that the wine was good and well worth bringing home.
