Grand Rapids Michigan surprised us and we can’t wait to go back again! We were not sure what to expect going into our visit to Grand Rapids. We had heard that the city was known for its beer and food.
Coming from the Pacific Northwest where there is a brewery on almost every corner we have to admit to being a bit skeptical. How was Grand Rapids going to compare to the beer cities we know and love.
Could Grand Rapids entice us to want to come back to visit and tell everyone to visit? Would we find enough things to do that we couldn’t fit them all in during our trip? The answer is yes to all of these questions and more!
Grand Rapids honestly amazed us. From the great food to the breweries making it happen Grand Rapids is well worth considering for your next weekend getaway.
The first thing we noticed in Grand Rapids was how friendly everyone is. From the hotel valet to our waitress at a local restaurant, everyone was smiling and asked how we were doing.
John talked with the hotel valet each day about where we had visited and what our plans were. The valet at the JW Marriott gave us amazing suggestions on places to visit and his favorite places to see in town.
We didn’t announce that we were travel writers or that we were there to check out the city we just explored the city as a couple on a weekend getaway.
We were so impressed with the openness and excitement locals have for their city. They truly love their city and can’t wait to share it!
