Wash the carrots, Add them to a sauce pan and cover with water completely.
Cover and bring to a boil, allow to simmer for 30-40 minutes until carrots are just getting tender.
Remove half of the pan water carefully. Add in brown sugar, butter, and salt and stir together. Simmer for 10-15 minutes until carrots are fork tender.
A fork should easily stick through the carrot when they are ready to be served.
