    New Orleans Travel Tips

If you are flying into New Orleans there are set rates for the cabs to town. They were very reasonable and have set rates to and from the airport. We paid $33 for a taxi for 2 people downtown. When we priced an Uber it was $75.

    Things to do

Take a ride on the Steamboat Natchez for a view of the city from the river.

Visit the Audubon Aquarium of the Americas and Butterfly Garden.
Located right on the Mississippi River and an easy walk from the French Quarter the aquarium and butterfly garden are the perfect place to cool off in the A/C.

    Take a streetcar ride
Be prepared for the streetcars to be busy depending on the time of day you want to travel. These are a very popular way to see the city especially since they only cost $1.25 for a 1 way fare.

Visit one of these amazing New Orleans Plantations along the Great River Road.

Wander Jackson Square and check out the artists and the St. Louis Cathedral. The cathedral is the oldest continually operating cathedral in the United States.

Visit Cafe du Monde for beignets! Be prepared for the powdered sugar to get everywhere. If you have a purse zip it closed or you may find sugar on everything in your purse.

Walk through St. Louis Cemetery No. 1 the oldest surviving cemetery in New Orleans.

Want to learn more about Mardi Gras and the parade floats? Check out Mardi Gras World to see there 400,000 square foot warehouse filled with all things Mardi Gras! Daily tours are offered showcasing the huge floats from the Mardi Gras parades.

We've only toured New Orleans once. I know we miss a lot of things, and hope to make it back someday!

The butterfly garden would be a lovely place to visit. I'd like to take a book there, and just enjoy having the beautiful creatures flutter around me!

I've never been to New Orleans, but my sister did---she said it was amazing!! Beignets are some of my favorite treats, and I'd love to eat the ones at Cafe du Monde.

I haven't been back to New Orleans since well before the flood. I wonder how much it has changed?!
