What's Just Hit the Market in 2026

Lagavulin Introduces 11 Year Old Sweet Peat Single Malt Scotch
Lagavulin is releasing its first new permanent expression in nine years: Lagavulin 11 Year Old Sweet Peat Single Malt Scotch Whisky. The Islay distillery has aged this expression in first-fill American oak ex-bourbon casks for 11 years, balancing peat smoke with sweetness drawn entirely from oak and malt.
Sweet Peat reveals notes of toffee apple, vanilla, and gentle spice while maintaining Lagavulin's distinctive character. The expression earned a Gold Medal at the 2025 San Francisco Wine & Spirits Competition.
"Sweet Peat reflects careful cask selection and deliberate pacing," said Dr. Stuart Morrison, Diageo Master Blender. "On the palate, it opens with a gentle sweetness and salinity before bonfire smoke and oak spice come into focus. Notes of honeyed malt and toffee apple build through the mid-palate, finishing long with lingering peat smoke, dark chocolate, and soft vanilla."
The whisky is crafted using Lagavulin's traditional approach: heavily peated malt and local Islay water undergo careful fermentation in wooden washbacks, followed by distillation through the distillery's four distinctive squat, pear-shaped copper pot stills. This measured process produces a full-bodied, structured spirit, allowing peat to remain central through maturation while layers of sweetness emerge.
"Pronounced smoke is a defining element of Islay Scotch, albeit one that can feel polarizing to some drinkers," said Jesse Damashek, Senior Vice President of Whiskey at Diageo. "Sweet Peat presents peat in a way that tastes more approachable, while still delivering the depth and complexity long associated with Lagavulin."
The expression works well neat or on the rocks, and its versatility extends to classic and contemporary cocktails, including the Smoky Sweet Old Fashioned and the Sweet Peat Tea.

Owl's Brew Launches Spiked Pop Hard Soda Line
Owl's Brew is expanding beyond its tea-based RTDs with Spiked Pop, a clean-label hard soda launching nationwide in March. The female-founded brand is bringing its real-ingredient philosophy to the spiked soda category with seven throwback-inspired flavors made with carefully selected juices, botanicals, teas, and herbs.
Spiked Pop delivers nostalgic soda flavors reimagined with modern, functional ingredients. Each can contains 5g or less of sugar per serving (significantly less than traditional soda) and is made without artificial flavors or coloring. It's Owl's Brew's take on soda all grown up: familiar flavors with fewer trade-offs and recognizable ingredients.
"Spiked Pop brings our deep flavor expertise and real ingredient foundation into soda," said Jennie Ripps, CEO and Co-Founder of Owl's Brew. "As the RTD space continues to evolve, we saw an opportunity to rethink hard soda from the ground up, creating something playful, nostalgic and genuinely better."
"As the better-for-you, non-alcoholic soda category continues to explode, we see a clear opportunity to bring that same philosophy into the alcohol aisle," added Maria Littlefield, CMO and Co-Founder.
The lineup launches with seven flavors: Watermelon Lime, The Doc, Pineapple Dew, Cream Soda, Black Cherry, Strawberry Hibiscus, and Lemon Lime. All are 4.8% ABV with 5g or less of carbs and sugar per serving.
Spiked Pop joins Owl's Brew favorites like Chelsea Handler's Vodka Lemonade, Sun Tea & Vodka, and Rum Mojito.
Spiked Pop will be available at Whole Foods, Trader Joe's, H-E-B, Jewel Osco, Harris Teeter, Total Wine, and many more retailers across California, Washington, Oregon, Texas, Georgia, Maryland, Washington D.C., Tennessee, Illinois, Colorado, Florida, South Carolina, North Carolina, Virginia, New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania, Connecticut, Rhode Island, Massachusetts, and Minnesota. Mehak Abrol Launches Meximodo Tequila Blanco with Master Distiller Iliana Partida
Entrepreneur Mehak Abrol, CEO and Founder of Meximodo Tequila, has launched Meximodo Tequila Blanco, a premium organic tequila built on the pillars of Woman Owned, Woman Designed, and Woman Distilled. The brand aims to elevate women's voices and leadership in the spirits industry through craftsmanship, culture, and community.
Meximodo Tequila Blanco is crafted by Iliana Partida, a 4th generation distiller from the legendary Partida family. The expression features 100% Blue Weber agave, certified organic and additive-free, with a smooth, crisp profile showcasing floral and citrus notes.
The brand positions itself as a symbol of strength and sophistication, celebrating the rising momentum of women reshaping the spirits world.
Meximodo Tequila is available at MEXIMODO locations in Jersey City (25 Christopher Columbus Dr, 201-377-3265) and Metuchen (5 Pearl Street, 732-395-7767), with Marlboro and Parsippany, NJ locations coming in 2026.
Sotol Romo Launches During Super Bowl Week in San Francisco
Sotol Romo, an ultra-premium Mexican spirit made from 100% Dasylirion (sotol), is making its global debut during Super Bowl Week in San Francisco. The brand positions sotol as the third pillar of Mexican spirits alongside tequila and mezcal.
Produced in Chihuahua, Mexico, Sotol Romo is made from 100% Dasylirion cedrosanum, a wild desert plant native to the Sierra Madre that takes 15 to 20 years to mature. The slow growth allows the plant to develop sugars naturally, requiring minimal manipulation after distillation and no additives. The result is an organic, sustainable, artisanal, kosher, additive-free spirit crafted with just plant and water.
"Sotol Romo is a treasure of the Sierra Madre," said Claudia Romo Edelman, Founder and CEO. "It comes from a plant that survives where little else does and grows slowly under the harshest conditions. Like great wine or diamonds, the more challenging nature is, the more exceptional the result."
Richard Betts, one of the most respected figures in modern Mexican spirits, perfected the liquid profile. "Compared to mezcal, sotol is lighter, more elegant, and less smoky or forceful. It allows more space for subtle flavors and balance. Compared to tequila, it feels more aromatic and refined, with a clearer expression of the land," said Betts.
The brand officially unveils on Friday, February 6, with the first public presentation of the bottle, liquid tasting, and the launch of SotolRomo.com. The site features a comprehensive sotol educational library.

Double Mountain Brewery Releases First-Ever Canned Lineup
After a decade of focusing exclusively on refillable glass bottles, Hood River's Double Mountain Brewery & Cidery is finally canning its beer and cider. Hop Lion IPA, Dry Cider, and a new Czech-style Pilsner will be available in 12-ounce six-packs starting January 30 (the Pilsner follows in March).
The move isn't abandoning Double Mountain's sustainability values. Refillable glass remains at the core of the brewery's identity, and that program continues unchanged. But the team recognized that customers wanted cans for outdoor adventures, concerts, picnics, and other places where glass isn't practical.
"For a long time, refillable glass has been the best expression of who we are as a brewery, and that hasn't changed," says Matt Swihart, Owner and Brewmaster. "At the same time, we've heard our customers loud and clear. Offering Hop Lion, Dry Cider, and Pilsner in cans allows people to take Double Mountain with them into more places."
All Double Mountain cans feature directly printed artwork, avoiding plastic shrink sleeves that interfere with recycling systems. It's a cleaner, more sustainable approach that keeps aluminum in the recycling stream. Empty cans and refillable glass bottles can be returned to any Oregon BottleDrop location or Double Mountain pubs.
Hop Lion IPA (6.7% ABV, 65 BU): The flagship IPA brings tropic resin, tangerine, evergreen, and Northwest petrichor to the nose, with tangelo and fresh bread following through. Finishes with orange and dank pine.
Dry Cider (6.6% ABV): Made with apples from Double Mountain's own orchard, this cider features Newtowns and old world cider apples pressed and fermented on a house yeast strain. Aromas of juicy pear, lychee, green fruit, and chamomile. Tart, crisp, dry finish.
Czech-Style Pilsner (4.7% ABV, 37 BU): A brand new brew and low-ABV option for the lineup. Clean, crisp, classic Czech-style lager built for balance and drinkability. No frills, just time-tested brewing.
Cans will be sold at local grocery stores and all Double Mountain locations.

State Line Distillery Launches Lapsang Smoked Gin
Smoked gin is carving out space as craft spirits' latest subcategory, and State Line Distillery is jumping in with both feet. The distillery releases its Lapsang Smoked Gin on February 1, incorporating Lapsang Souchong tea (a Chinese black tea traditionally smoked over pinewood fires) into a botanical spirit that bridges the gap between gin and whiskey.
The expression targets dual audiences: gin drinkers looking for more robust flavors and whiskey enthusiasts curious about botanical spirits. The smoked character delivers familiar complexity for whiskey fans while maintaining gin's cocktail versatility. Think martinis with added depth or Old Fashioned-style preparations with a lighter, more aromatic twist.
"We're seeing consumers who appreciate the depth of whiskey but want the versatility of gin," said a State Line Distillery representative. "Smoked gin bridges that gap by offering familiar smoky complexity through a completely different spirit category."
The release reflects a broader shift in American spirits, where consumers increasingly seek cross-category flavor experiences. While American gin has historically leaned into citrus and juniper brightness, contemporary craft distillers are exploring savory, earthy, and umami-forward profiles. State Line's Lapsang Smoked Gin is among the expressions leading this charge, establishing smoked botanicals as a core focus even before the distillery's single malt whiskey program launches.
Bartenders can use the expression in classic gin cocktails for added complexity or substitute it in whiskey-style drinks for a botanical alternative.
