Quebec City and Île d'Orléans Foodie
During my trip to Quebec City, I had the opportunity to enjoy a one-day foodie tour with the amazing Allison Van Rassel. She is a fantastic food writer based in Quebec City who put together an itinerary of her favorite restaurants that she thought we needed to visit.
I am going to admit that going into my trip, I hadn't heard a ton about the Quebec food scene outside of people talking about how you have to get poutine during any trip to Canada. While we did end up enjoying amazing poutine, this trip focused on local purveyors of high-quality dishes focused on utilizing the amazing farm fresh produce available in the region.
We learned on the trip that the area around Quebec City is filled with farms and local producers of high-quality meat, cheeses, and produce. This trip opened my eyes to the amazing food being prepared in Quebec City and Ile d'Orleans.
I hope you are ready to dive into a food journey that will have your taste buds ready to bite into delicious meals and savor gourmet cocktails I can't wait to try and recreate.

Chez Maude (Maude Epiceriel/Laboratoire Culnaire)
Address - 1501, Chemin de la Canardiere
Chez Maude was created to help bring local Quebec products to a neighborhood that was filled with more fast food that local products.
Maude Desroches saw a need for her community to have access to local produce and healthy food opportunities. Chez Maude opened a local corner store filled with products from the Quebec region. The store also has a fantastic coffee shop and menu filled with local items.

I need you to go and try their waffle with Charlevoix cheese, caramelized onions, and apples. From the first bite, I knew that we were in for a treat.
This is a hidden gem in Quebec City you do not want to miss!

Cassis Monna & Filles/ La Monnaquette
Address - 1225, ch. Royal
Cassic Monna & Filles is located on Ile d'Orleans which is an island just outside of Quebec City. Cassis Monna & Filles is a fifth-generation business that focuses on blackcurrants.
When you pull up to the restaurant/wine bar you can see the blackcurrant bushes on the other side of the road. The views from the restaurant are breathtaking. It would be really easy to spend all day relaxing on the lawn with a glass or two of blackcurrant wine.

Cassis Monna & Files has La Monnaguette restaurant, winery, wine celler & gourmet boutique, and Dairy bar creamery with amazing soft serve. We had the opportunity to try their monnagria (Blackcurrant Sangria), Cassis-Vanilla Sift serve (So good), Creme de Cassic, and Cassis Gin during our visit.

They also brought pastries from La Midinette their bakery and bar located in Saint-Jean-de-l'île-d'Orléans. The pastries were amazing. If you are spending tie on Ile d'Orleans make sure to plan a visit to the bakery along with Cassis Monna & Filles
Cassis Monna & Filles must trys:
Monnagria - Sparkling artisinal sangria made with blackcurrant wine and fruits. It is the perfect summer drink.
Creme de Cassis - Used to make a Kir. This liqueur is enjoyable as a digestif or over ice.
Blackcurrant Sweets - In the gourmet gift shop, they have sweet treats made with blackcurrants. I brought a few back with me to the hotel and they did not last long. I kept finding myself reaching for another one they were so good.

Chez mag - La Fine Cantina
Address - 2460, Chemin Royal, Sainte-Famille, QC
Chez Mag Fine Cantine is a roadside snack bar serving gourmet poutine, lobster rolls, fries, burgers, along with a menu of culinary delights.
When we pulled up to Chez Mag there was a line outside the restaurant. We learned that there is usually a bit of a line because the food is always amazing.

I have to tell you from the first bite of vegetarian friendly poutine I might have swooned a bit. Fresh cheese curds on hot French fries coated in gravy...yes please!

Everyone said the lobster rolls were unbelievable. Don't let the fact that this is a roadside food stand stop you from getting in line and taking a bite of their legendary food.

Vignoble Ste-Petronille
Address - 8705, Chemin Royal, Sainte-Pétronille, QC
When you drive into Vignoble Ste-Petronille the first thing you see is the sweeping rows of grape vines. They lead your eye down to an amazing view of the St. lawrence River.
They have been certified organic since 2021 and favor natural practices to preserve their vines.

Their wine is made with minimal intervention to showcase the flavors of the terroir. They use the skins and residue of the grapes to produce organic brandy. Vignoble Ste-Petronille also works with local apple orchards to make cider that is combined with their grape to create a unique cider.
You can enjoy a wonderful wine tasting and dinner at their new on-site restaurant. The wood-fired pizzas are made with fresh ingredients and taste amazing.
I tried the Margherita Pizza and it was the perfect balance of flavors.

Fresh Produce Stands
As you explore Ile de'Orleans I NEED you to stop at atleast one local produce stand. Allison stopped at one of her favorites and grabbed a basket of fresh strawberries.
These strawberries were unbelievable. I bought strawberries when I got home, and they were so bland in flavor compared to the fresh strawberries in Quebec. Don't let the size of the strawberries stop you. They are packed with flavor.
The strawberries we tried were from OhBio- Ferme Jean-Pierre Plante, a fourth-generation farm.

La Souche - Limoilou
Address - 801 Chemin de la Canardiere, Quebec
La Souche is the perfect local brewery for relaxing with friends and enjoy a cold glass of beer and an amazing plate of poutine.
Yes more poutine but trust me it is so worth it!
They hae 18 beers on the menu and offer unique beers they make in small batches.
Beers rotate frequently so you will want to try any that jump out at you.

Please order the lumberjack balls on top of the poutine. One to be able to say you ordered Lumberjack Balls, two they are honestly delicious, three because I know you are wondering it is a fried cheese curd ball served with house-made bbq sauce infused with La Souche beer. YUM!

Don't miss the fun art in La Souche! This wall art made me giggle the entire time and think about what I envision my life to look like in 20 years.

Vieux Carre
Address - 36, rue Saint-Pierre, Old Quebec City
Vieux Carre is located in the historic area of Quebec City. The cocktail bar can be found next to Bistro L'Orygine.
We enjoyed a dandelion mocktail that was truly amazing. A blend of sweet flavors mixed with an almost earthy flavor.
This is the perfect cocktail bar for a pre-dinner drink or a date night. They have a terrace overlooking the streets of Old Quebec made for relaxing.

Restaurant Tanière3
Address - 36 ½ Rue Saint-Pierre, Quebec
Restaurant Tanière³ has earned a two Michelin stars in fine dining. The restaurant is literally a hidden gem. You will not know the address until you have a reservation and receive a text message with your arrival time and door code.

Located in a cellar vault in Old Quebec you are in for a dining experience unlike any other. From the moment you walk into the restaurant you can feel that this is going to be an experience you talk about for a long time.

The menu is rooted in Quebec's boreal forest and indigenous ingredients served in a multi-course blind tasting menu.
The dining experience moves between three rooms, so each course is a unique experience.

Bistro Le Sam
Address - Fairmont Le Chateau Frontenac
I visited Bistro Le Sam in the unbelievably gorgeous Fairmont Le Chateau Frontenac with some great friends and had to add it to this must visit list of restaurants in Quebec City.

They have a wonderful vegetarian portion of the menu. I had a goat cheese dish that was amazing.

Every single bite of food was divine! Whatever you order make sure you save room for the Maple Creme Brulee. It is worth the flight to Quebec City all on it's own.
The food scene in Quebec City and Ile d'Orleans is amazing! There is truly something for everyone at every price point.
You can enjoy Michelin Star Dining the same day you enjoy a roadside foodstand with amazing food.
