I'm excited to share my trip from Quebec City to Montreal visiting amazing wineries, thermal spas, hotels, and truly amazing farm to table restaurants.

The three regions that we visited produce 60% of Canada's wine while showcasing some of the country's most innovative restaurants.

From cycling the legendary Brome-Missisquoi Wine Route to soaking in thermal spas overlooking mountain vineyards, discover why Quebec is becoming North America's premier gastronomic destination.

    Day 1: Centre-du-Quรฉbec Discovery

Morning: Quebec City to Wine Country

Our journey began at the Centre des Congrรจs de Quรฉbec in Quebec City, heading south to the Centre-du-Quรฉbec region.

foggy mist over the hills with rows of grapes, Adirondack chairs and fire pits

Lunch & Wine Tasting: Vignoble Cรดtes du Gavet

Our first stop was the enchanting Vignoble Cรดtes du Gavet in Tingwick, perched on a lush hillside with stunning views. This family-run vineyard welcomed us with:

Wine bottles lined up from Vignoble Les Cotes du Gavet
Tammilee smiling holding a glass of white sparkling wine at a vineyard
Box of Fromagerie du Presbytere cheese with craisins, prosciutto, and information on the cheese at the top of the box.
    • Wine tasting featuring their white, rosรฉ, and sparkling wines
    • Cheese pairing from the renowned Fromagerie du Presbytรจre

The cheese was unbelievable! So many different flavors paired perfectly with the wines we sampled.

Address: 1690 Chemin de l'Aqueduc, Tingwick

Pink sign on the side of a glass building with La Poutine

Afternoon Cultural Stop: Musรฉe des Cultures du Monde

In Nicolet, we explored the playful summer exhibition "Poutine: A Culture of All Flavors!" at the Musรฉe des Cultures du Monde. This fascinating exhibit deep-dives into Quebec's iconic comfort food and its journey from local favorite to international phenomenon.

I am so glad I was able to sample a few different Poutines during my Quebec City and รŽle d'Orlรฉans Foodie Tour.

Touring the Poutine Exhibit made me ready to enjoy poutine as often as possible.

    900 Boulevard Louis Frรฉchette, Nicolet

Hotel Montfort entrance with a covered walkway up to the stairs leading into the large brick building

    Accommodation: Hรดtel Montfort Nicolet

Dinner: Au Pรขturage - Espaces gourmand

The day's culinary highlight was a farm-to-table dinner at Au Pรขturage in Sainte-Perpรฉtue. This distinctive agritourism experience featured:

Asparagus on a dark plate with botanicals and cheese next to a rose wine
    • A unique tasting menu showcasing produce from their gardens
    • Generous, tasty cuisine highlighting the local terroir
    • The pleasure of dining in a gorgeous restaurant

I would fly back to Quebec City just to enjoy this amazing asparagus dish. It had the perfect balance of flavors and tasted so fresh.

After checking out of the gorgeous Hรดtel Montfort, we traveled to Bรฉcancour to visit Moulin Michel, an 18th-century flour mill that is still operating.

    Highlights included:

    • Learning how hydraulic mechanisms grind grain on ancestral grindstones
    • Freshly baked pastries made from organic buckwheat flour and local products
    • Lunch at this historic working mill

If you are a birder you will love a visit to Moulin Michel. I had the Merlin app open and was amazed at how many migratory birds it was picking up during our visit.

    675 Boulevard Bรฉcancour, Bรฉcancour

Wooded area with a dirt trail, two mountain bikers coming down the trail at Parc Des Sommets

Afternoon Adventure: Bromont's Parc des Sommets

We drove to Bromont in the Eastern Townships for an easy hike at Parc des Sommets, exploring trails from their 150 km network.

The 15-km mountain loop around Mount Brome offered mesmerizing views and passed through Bromont's village centers, lakes, and residential areas.

There are different trails you can choose from depending on the length, terrain, and time you want to spend hiking. The hike we did was gorgeous.

This was another spot with tons of migratory birds visible.

    Dinner: Espace Old Mill

We traveled to Stanbridge East for an unforgettable dinner at Espace Old Mill, a country-style restaurant on one of the most beautiful sites in the Eastern Townships. This unique venue features:

    • Gastronomic meals celebrating local, sustainable agriculture
    • Garden visit and tour before dinner
    • Innovative, high-quality culinary experience based on agroecology principles
    • Michelin Guide Green Star Awarded Restaurant

This was one of the most unique dining experiences I have had anywhere in the world. Starting the night with a tour of the gardens and learning about how they are used year round to create new and innovative menus really set the tone for an amazing dinner.

Espace Old Mill had us wondering what we were in for when the menu included Deer Tongue...Come to find out it is a type of lettuce but we really were not sure until the dish was served.

Our group bonded together quickly as we wondered who would be the 1st one to try deer tongue.

7 Chemin Caleb Tree, Stanbridge East

Day 3: Eastern Townships Wine Route

Brasserie Dunham brick building with large sign across the building

    Lunch: Brasserie Dunham

After a leisurely morning at Chรขteau-Bromont, we enjoyed lunch at Brasserie Dunham, founded in 2010. This brewery blends European traditions with American modern brewing, offering:

Veggie burger with fries and salad on a white plate at Brasserie Dunham
    • Portfolio of classic and experimental beers
    • Barrel-aged and lupulin-rich options
    • Outstanding menu to complement their craft beers

Electric Bike Adventure: Brome-Missisquoi Wine Route

Part of our group picked up electric bikes from E-Mobilitรฉ Cafรฉ at the Adelard gallery in Frelighsburg and embarked on the legendary Brome-Missisquoi Wine Route - the birthplace of viticulture in Quebec.

This 140 km signposted route produces 60% of Quebec's wine and passes through picturesque villages with mesmerizing mountain and valley views.

As many of you know I do not ride bikes so I took a leisurely van ride to the wineries.

Green fields leading to a farmhouse and covered pavillion, people sitting at tables with bikes and wine

Winery Stop 1: Domaine du Ridge

Our first stop was Domaine du Ridge in Saint-Armand, where fields of vines extend as far as the eye can see. The family-like, warm atmosphere made this visit special:

    • Tasting of fine quality local wines
    • Fascinating stories about Quebec viticulture
    • Colorful, flowery setting

This is the perfect stop to relax with a glass of wine and soak in the gorgeous views. The grounds are beautiful.

Winery Stop 2: Vignoble de l'Ardennais

We cycled/rode in the van along picturesque Ridge Road lined with centuries-old maples to reach Vignoble de l'Ardennais. This vineyard, with first plantings from 1994, practices natural winemaking:

    Tammilee holding a wine glass
    • Grape varieties: Pinot Noir, Seyval, Chancellor, Petite Pearl, Riesling, Marquette
    • Cultivated while nourishing the land and respecting wildlife
    • Minimal intervention vinification

This vineyard stop included meeting the vineyard cat which we all tried to love up on since we were missing our fur babies back at home.

    158 Ch Ridge, Stanbridge East

Wooden table with gorgeous flowers and place settings

Dinner: Les Cocagnes with Guest Chefs

Our culinary journey for the day peaked at Les Cocagnes in Frelighsburg, featuring guest chefs ร‰mile Tremblay + Sylvain Dervieux from Les Faux Bergers in Charlevoix. This non-profit organization developed a new model of cohabitation on agricultural land:

rows of vegetables in a garden at Les Cocagnes in Frelighsburg
heirloom lettuce on a sauce on a white plate
    • Farm visit exploring their sustainable agriculture mission
    • Intimate gourmet "table champรชtre" experience
    • Products from Les Cocagnes' farms and local agroecological producers
    • All proceeds support land access and shared equipment for tenant farmers

The Quebec region is taking farm to table to a new level of experience with unique dining opportunities in the heart of the farms.

We toured the farm including the different vegetable gardens while walking to our amazing dinner. Every course was paired with a great wine to showcase the fresh flavors straight from the fields.

    Morning: Ferme Guyon

We started the morning with a visit to the amazing Ferme Guyon in Chambly - the perfect showcase of seasonal and local products, just 20 minutes from Montreal:

local cheese available for purchase at Ferme Guyon in Chambly
    • Family educational farm
    • Fine cheeses counter
    • Fresh fruits and vegetables
    • The Reserve: largest wine, cider, and craft beer store in the area
    • The must-do stop for sampling Southern Quebec without visiting individual farms

If you love local products and amazing farm stores you are going to love Ferme Guyon! I could have spent hours wandering around the store looking at all of the local products and unique items.

I didn't know you could turn maple syrup into so many things. I highly suggest trying the maple cotton candy. It is light, sweet, and so good.

This would be the perfect spot to pick up cheese, crackers, meat, and a sweet treat to take on a picnic date or road trip adventure.

    1001 Patrick Farrar, Chambly

Cidrerie Michel Jodoin Rose with award sitting on a counter near wine barrels labeled Michel Jodoin

    Lunch: Cidrerie Michel Jodoin

In Rougemont, we experienced five generations of apple growing at Cidrerie Michel Jodoin. Michel returned from Champagne, France in the 1980s with the idea to create fine sparkling apple ciders:

    Scenic Route: Rougemont to Mont-Saint-Hilaire

We took the scenic Rougemont Wine & Cider Route through the Monteregian Hills - old magmatic mounts offer perfect soil for grapes, apples, pears, and maple trees.

We stopped at Coteau Rougemont vineyard and enjoyed their amazing wines.

The various orchards dotting this picturesque 19 km route were gorgeous as we drove towards the thermal spa.

outdoor pool with a waterfall, rocks in the pool, and lounging area behind it at Strรธm Spa Nordique Mont-Saint-Hilaire

Spa Experience: Strรธm Spa Nordique Mont-Saint-Hilaire

Built in the heart of the Gault Nature Reserve, Strรธm Mont-Saint-Hilaire offered absolute relaxation:

    • Thermal spa experience in harmony with nature
    • Panoramic views of Mont Saint-Hilaire
    • Outdoor pool
    • Salt exfoliation area
    • Innovative relaxation rooms
    • The most popular spa in Montรฉrรฉgie

I need you to book a trip to visit Strom Spa Nordique! They have multiple locations including Old Quebec.

It is hard to put into words how relaxing our afternoon was at Strom Spa. We wandered the grounds trying the steam baths, dry sauna, relaxation rooms, and nordic baths.

I learned that I am a bit of a chicken when it comes to super cold water and don't have the tolerance to last very long taking a dip but I still managed to do it.

The relaxation rooms are a dream come true! Make suer to book a day pass so you can enjoy the thermal experiences and not add stress and worry about having to leave. Trust me you will not want to leave!

We concluded our spa experience with cocktails and dinner at Bistro Nord, featuring gastronomic cuisine with boreal flavors and fresh local produce in this unique natural setting.

Bistro Nord is gorgeous! The perfect place to end your day of relaxation with healthy gourmet food.

I am not sure how the carrots above were prepared but I can tell you they tasted like carrot candy. So sweet, fresh, and delicious.

This was one of my absolute favorite stops on our adventure from Quebec to Montreal. Especially when I learned that Stefan Faucher who led our tour also graduate from the same college I did in Olympia, Washington!

I never expected to meet a fellow Evergreen State Alumni in Montreal, Canada.
