Tips for Visiting Mykonos by Cruise Ship

Published: Feb 5, 2015 · Updated: Nov 14, 2020 by Tammilee · This post may contain affiliate links

Are you heading to Mykonos via a cruise ship? Here are our best travel tips and info for visiting Mykonos by cruise ship.

The island of Mykonos is gorgeous! It is an easy cruise port to explore on your own or via a ship excursion.

Tips for Visiting Mykonos by Cruise Ship

There is only 1 pier in Mykonos. It is the first ship first to come. Other ships will tender into the port.

Depending on where the boat anchors there is a 3km walk into town or the tenders will pull right into town.  If you pull in 3km from town there is a bus shuttle that is well worth taking.

Once in town, Mykonos is an easy city to navigate. you can easily walk among the shops and restaurants along the waterfront.

If you follow the waterfront along to the right you will reach little Venice and then the windmills.

Katarina's in Little Venice is one of the best restaurants we have eaten at anywhere in the world, order the grilled feta……and the chocolate heaven and the baklava! You will not be disappointed

Shopping on Mykonos includes a lot of the same tourist items you see other places in Greece, including dishtowels, olive-based soaps, and products, the blue eye, plus gorgeous paintings of Mykonos

Cute cats are present around the island but also keep an eye out for the pelican mascot of the island.

I've been wanting to take a cruise for the longest time, but I'm afraid that I will get seasick. It must be really nice to visit restaurants and shops along a waterfront. I love being close to the water. I love your last shot of the water – gorgeous.

My Husband tends to get carsick and we were really worried about him cruising. We have done over 10 cruises and he has never had a problem on the ships. They are the size of a football field so they really don't move that much.

Greece is totally breathe taking! Mykonos looks like a wonderful place to visits with all the fun little shops. The last image looks like it could be a post card. I really love the design of the wall way, i like how it pops.

My husband went to Mykonos 5 years ago, before he met me, and I wish I had been able to go with him! From the photos I've seen, including yours, it seems like such a beautiful, laid-back/idyllic place to visit. Truly, a place to escape and relax for a bit. It seems like a perfect port city to visit as part of a cruise!

Wow, those views are amazing! I have never experienced what's like to be on a cruise ship. Are there lots of affordable items to shop for on Mykonos? I would love to see the gorgeous paintings because we are into art and decorations.

Is this in Greece? I've heard a lot about Mykonos (a friend of a friend used to live there). Your photos are just gorgeous -- as ALWAYS 🙂 I love the alley ways and how bright and pretty they are. Last last pic? Ugh, breathtaking.

Mykonos looks absolutely breathtaking. I would love to visit it by cruise ship, actually, I'd love to visit all the Greek islands. I've so far been to Crete and it was beautiful, I want to go to Greece again very soon. The warm sea is just a winner for me.

Nice photos of the island. When did you go? Got to love when you find a great spot to eat overseas, makes you want to go back. Now I am not a cat person, so go to ask did you see the mascot of the island? Makes me want to travel more.

We didn't see any pelicans on this trip to Mykonos. The last trip we were on there we saw a lovely fat pelican that pretty much owned the place we were at.
