    The Pines Resort - Bass Lake, California {Video}

Published: Jan 15, 2019 · Updated: Dec 17, 2022 by Tammilee · This post may contain affiliate links

We had the opportunity to stay at The Pines Resort Bass Lake, California, and truly enjoyed our time at the resort and surrounding area. This year we are partnering with Visit Yosemite Madera County to share as much as we possibly can to help you plan a trip to this beautiful part of California.

When it comes to Bass Lake Hotels the Pines Resort is one you do not want to miss. They offer suites with views of Bass Lake and cabins/chalets right near the water. We stayed in a suite and were impressed with all of the amenities.

One cool thing we found out at check-in is this area was used to film the 1988 movie The Great Outdoors with Dan Akroyd and John Candy. You will recognize many of the scenes in the movie as you explore Bass Lake.

Our first visit was in January so the lake was not in use but we were able to enjoy relaxing with the fireplace in our room.  Don't even get me started with the Jacuzzi tub in the room! I may have had a nightly date with the tub relaxing and warming up from the cool weather.

The Pines Resort is the perfect resort to book while planning an epic Northern California trip to Yosemite NP and the surrounding area.

The Pines resort is located 17-miles from the south gate of Yosemite National Park. The closest attraction within the park is the Mariposa Grove of Giant Sequoias which is the largest Sequoia grove in Yosemite.

You can also drive into Yosemite Valley to see epic views of half dome, El Capitan, Yosemite Falls, and more.

Suite at Pines Resort Bass Lake

We stayed in suite #13 which is on the second floor of the suite building. Our room looked out over Bass Lake with a great view of the marina and surrounding area.

The room is a split level with the bathroom and bedroom right when you walk in the front door and then there are three stairs down to a sitting area with a couch, writing desk, and wood-burning stove.

The bathroom includes a giant soaking tub that could probably fit two people if you wanted. There is also a shower and toilet in a separate room. There are two sinks and a large vanity mirror near the giant tub.

There is no closet in the room but there is a wardrobe cabinet that has shelves and a small closet area for hanging clothes. The bed was really comfortable enough so that I slept past my alarm one morning because I kept pressing the snooze button.

Our favorite part of the room was the wood-burning fireplace and view over the lake. We started and finished almost every day with a fire and enjoying the lake view.

The bonus for getting up before the alarm was watching the sunrise while soaking in the atmosphere from the fire. We were able to buy presto-logs from the front desk and at the Pines Market right next door.

We would vote the Pines one of the most Romantic Resorts we have stayed at.

The Pines Market had 3-hour presto logs which were perfect for enjoying at night. You can also pick up a 6-pack of local beer or a great bottle of wine to enjoy in the room.

The room does have a small fridge and coffee maker. The coffee in the room is Maxwell House so if you are a coffee snob like my husband you may want to bring your own grounds with you.

The Pines Resort also offers chalet and cabin rentals that can sleep up to 12 depending on the one you choose.  Depending on the time of year your visit the resort also features a marina with water-sports rentals, plus sports courts, a gym, an outdoor pool, a gas station, and a general store.

    Ducey's Bass Lake Lodge

Ducey's on the Lake is located in the same building as the suites. The restaurant offers farm to table food as much as possible including all-natural locally sourced products, organic, grass-fed, free-range, and non-GMO products.

Ducey's Bass Lake Lodge offers breakfast and dinner with amazing views of Bass Lakes. If you are visiting during the summer or a busy season you will want to make reservations for dinner to make sure you can get a table.

We enjoyed breakfast at Ducey's on the Lake a couple of times and it was fantastic. We had great service and the food tasted amazing. John is still raving about the oatmeal and bacon. We haven't had a chance to enjoy dinner at Ducey's on the Lake yet but it is on our list for our next visit.

Make sure to check out all of the epic Oakhurst Restaurants. There are so many great dining options.

    Ducey's Bar and Grill

Located on the 2nd floor above Ducey's on the Lake this casual bar and grill offer lunch and dinner along with a full bar. The menu has a wide range of offerings from burgers to fig and duck bacon pizzas.

We loved the spinach artichoke dip appetizer! The portions were large and we didn't even make it through half of it.  John was super excited they had his favorite General Sherman IPA on tap.
